Cryptocurrency, Amazon & Tesla

Something I wonder!

So with speculation out there that Amazon will be allowing you to purchase with Cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) and Tesla currently allowing payments via Bitcoin, do we and our children need to be educated in Cryptocurrency?

It seems the world is changing before our very eyes.

Has anyone heard of NFT's? People buying virtual art, speculation that soon we can own celebrities, roads, places all in a virtual world - trade with them, sell them on..

You have to dig hard to find this other world that is running alongside the one we live in and will it take over one day? Will we be living off Cryptocurrency and if so, do schools need to start education our children?

I don't want to be left behind!

It's not a true currency, ultimately if they are having to advertise selling it on YouTube the alarm bells should be ringing.
I am concerned that crypto currency could replace cash eventually, but I thi k we are a very long way off that at present.

I know that it is becoming favourable in poorer countries where their money is worth not much, such as Venezuela slowly moving to it.

I just wonder what is going to happen with the world as influences on YouTube, Facebook etc are changing the world more than governments can handle.

With Brexit, Coronavirus etc our money and currency is becoming more and more digital.

I'm not just talking about people trying to sell Bitcoin, there are more cryptocurrencies out there that excite me more!!

I just think these conversations are not had enough about how the world is changing for our children, their children and their children..

I don't understand this at all. What's the point?

Wrt cryptocurrency, individual governments need to grow a spine and start regulating all of this properly before it gets out of hand

Tesla won't accept bitcoin now, it was very short lived and was a ploy to make Musk even richer 🙄

Do you have any skin in the game OP?

Maybe you can teach your children yourself. Why would children need to be taught at school about something when the whole thing is very unclear and so many questions remain unanswered. It would be jumping the gun, surely?

Champersandchocolate · 18/10/2021 14:24

@Hattie765 Yes, which brings me to the point that cryptocurrency is evolving - a lesser known Cardano cryptocurrency and many others are environmentally friendly.

Will these take Bitcoin off the number one spot and become bigger!

@mustlovegin Hi, no skin in the game - just topics you don't hear much about!

I absolutely do want my children to be educated in the current times.

The reason for my post is because a new Free School has opened in my town, it is a new way of educating from children being consumers of technology to being creators.

To be a parent of young children who can navigate iPhones, tablets and play minecraft/roblox, I am hoping that this new way of teaching and understanding can help them when our world progresses more and more digitally.

There aren't many schools that keep up with the times such as typical grammars etc..

It just excites me, worries me but is also fascinating.

We barely educate kids about normal financial stuff let alone crypto currency. I think there's more.value in teaching them about credit cards/loans/pensions etc personally
