I've been trying to cut down my alcohol Intake (down know exactly how much I was having,but too much, vomitting etc, one night per weekend) now I buy 12 light beer on a Friday and no matter what I don't buy any more...in the last month the first weekend I had 9,2nd I had 3,3rd 8 and 4th 12. Is this still too much? I have no children,have a partner, I'm drinking with friends,not drinking a lone or anything,few friday,few Saturday and 2 today is how this weekend went...just a few each night but i still wonder is this too many? Maybe next weekend I'll buy 6. Due to partner not being keen due to covid on nights out / even meals spending a lot of time at home. This Past month I've had no hangover and have been able.to go our and about,walks,shopping etc

That does seem like a lot. Could you try one weekend without any, and see how you get on?

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/10/2021 23:24

It's very difficult to tell from numbers. It's all psychological. Why are you drinking? What's happens if you don't? Could you go a month without? What do you tell yourself when I ask that?

If you were getting so drunk you vomited every week, the chances are there are underlying causes to the drinking which you probably want to address. Just drinking less leaves you open to drinking more when pressure is there.

Yes I might do that a few weekends I didnt have any until Saturday,the time I has 3 I had none until Sunday. I don't ever take spirit's or try drink the other beer in the house like I know once I get through the 12 I have my quota. I don't ever feel drunk just more thinking of my liver/ health and the calories lol

Drinking till you vomit is a problem.

@LettertoHermoine

Drinking till you vomit is a problem.
Which is why she says in the OP that she has changed that. Not a helpful comment.

@Pleasedonteliminate have you looked at zero alcohol beers? You can feel like you're having a drink minus the consequences.
Maybe get 6 of your usual and 6 zero for the next weekend as a starting point.

Thanks i realise I painted myself in a bad light,the two times I vomited were in the morning,but I never had In the past and was annoyed at myself for doing it to my body. One time I drank 5 bottles of peroni and that was the result I actually Googled it at the time and 5 bottles of peroni is equivalent to one bottle of wine. That's why I switched to light beer only.

Thanks for the alcohol free reminder,I would drink that in the sun quite often rather than a beer,kind of forgot about it. I don't crave drink oe anything. I went a hike with friends on Saturday for example,I drove they all had a can of gin at the top and then I stopped off a beer garden and had a coffee they had a few bottles of wine,I didn't mind by any means. It's more the calories and health I'm concerned about I think during covid my partner and I got in a rut and I'm trying to break it now. Like we were out again on Sunday a walk I'm not just siting in the house drinking lol.
