To ask you to help me support my friend

Posting here for traffic.

My friend is packing her stuff to come and stay with me after her brother turned up at the family home and trashed her room and almost physically assaulted her. The mum stood by. She is at university in the city she lives in. I live an hour away in a different city. She moved into her family home during lockdown when she lost her job in Spain during the pandemic and decided to do a degree to have better options.
I called the police but as I've never been to her family home I didn't have her address. She won't call the police on her brother. She is very scared and says they both dislike her and she can't get them to understand her.

What can I do for her? I'm happy for her to stay as long as she needs but I'm aware she needs to stick with her degree and it would cost her a fortune to commute each day from mine.

I was thinking to suggest to her to call the council and say she has been made homeless and I don't think she would be okay with a DV shelter. Her student finance wouldn't get her far renting a room in London, where she studies or would it? Her course is very specific so I don't even think she could transfer to the local uni here.
She has to do placement as well, so she couldn't really work much on the side to earn more.

I'm sure she could get counselling through her university, just wondering what other resources are out there for her?
