To ask what hobbies you do alone?

My fiancée had managed to change his hours so that he’s finally going to be home in the evenings when the baby is born and is really encouraging me to start a hobby that will give me at least an evening out of the house on my own to recharge and make some friends (we’ve moved to a new area.)

We have hobbies that we do together, such as skating, go karting but I’ve never really had a thing that I’ve gone and done by myself! I can’t really think what I would like to do.

What do you do? Something totally random would be really cool. I’d like to try something completely
New!

I go to an aerial hoop class once per week that I really enjoy. I look forward to it and it’s a good workout!

PurpleDaisies · 17/10/2021 12:23

Going to the gym
Walking
Seeing friends (if that counts!)

Hellocatshome · 17/10/2021 12:24

If you want to make friends you don't want a hobby that you do alone surely?

Fencing is fun and I've recently joined a beginners running group and I am finding it so much more enjoyable than trying to run alone.

Martial Arts

Simonjt · 17/10/2021 12:24

By alone do you mean on your own, or just without your partner?

Gym
Rugby

DigOlBick · 17/10/2021 12:28

Yes I mean without my fiancée haha. We do lots of stuff together on his days off but he wants me to have some downtime after baby is born to try and manage my mental health.

I used to do:
Gym
Yoga
Pilates
Art

I've toyed with the idea of book clubs, running or walking groups and so on but after having my dc I found that I was so tired that none of these interests lasted very long. Both mine were horrible sleepers though! And now they're older and sleeping through and I have the energy to do stuff, me and their dad and have split so my free evenings have vanished again! Now I'll just do home things like ring fit on the switch or YouTube yoga routines or maybe a virtual book club if I can find one.

DigOlBick · 17/10/2021 12:38

We have a gym at home and ring fit etc plus will be going to mum and baby exercise classes so I think the evening hobby should be something chilled. I was tempted to study another language but I’ve just finished my degree and having a little break before my masters so feels like maybe I’ll be punishing myself adding more study onto my plate!

Do you have any outdoor pursuits/rowing club type centres near you? Skating and go carting suggests you like active outdoor type things so you could do climbing, kayaking or something like that.
