AIBU to think this about animal charities

AIBU to think that items made and sold to raise awareness for animals, should have the proceeds go to animal charities?

This time of year comes with the awareness and fundraising for the red/white/purple poppies.
Every year, my local vets asks locals to make purple poppies in knitted/crocheted forms so they can sell them at their chain of surgeries to "commemorate the deeds and sacrifices of all animals".
The purple poppy has been a symbol for current and ex service animals for years, so it seems distasteful to me for them to use the awareness of them to then send the money elsewhere. In this case, the money raised is going to an already well funded MH charity which has nothing to do with animals at all.

YANBU - the money should go to animal charities
YABU - the money should go to whoever

If they’re not going to give the money to an animal charity why wouldn’t they send it to the British Legion??

YANBU and it seems odd to me that animal welfare charities wouldn't be a vets priority? They would probably get more donations!
I would have to say something, personally
