To get another PCR done?

Had cold symptoms since Monday

Woke up yesterday feeling like I’d been hit by a bus and couldn’t smell or taste. Got PCR test done - negative

Feeling the same today

Bad headache, runny nose, coughing non stop, can’t smell or taste, fatigue, muscles aches and hot then cold.

I’ve had the past 2 days off as I work on acute medical wards at my local hospital.

I’m double vaccinated and had COVID last year and feel the same as I did then. I’ve done lateral flows and they are negative but I dont 100% trust them - AIBU to get another PCR done?

Had the same symptoms, PCR x 2 and at least 6 lateral flow all negative. It's just a bad cold, everyone round here has it.

Yep, exactly the same even down to the sickness!!!

But the complete loss of taste and smell is NOT normal with a cold. It really isn't. You may smell less but not total loss.

It isn't normal for people to be vomiting with a cold either.

We know that there have been problems with some of the testing. I'd get another one to be on the safe side.

OP, if in doubt, re-take PCR as a precaution.

I'm the same. Been unwell since last week but pcr negative at weekend. Went back this morning for another as I feel worse today than I have up until now. I do think it's just a bad cold but I'm a teacher and back to work after half term next week so want to make sure.

I'd get another pcr. When I had covid I tested negative on the Thursday and positive on Saturday.

If a second pcr is negative then its probably 'just' a really bad cold.
