Used car query

I bought an approved used car a couple of months ago from main dealership.

I'd seen the original advert on autotrader, and it listed a few features that weren't standard, but common on the highter spec vehicles such as the one that I was buying - things like cruise control, tyre pressure alerts etc. They were one of the reasons I was interested in this car over others.

I was shown around the car before purchasing but didn't specifically ask to be shown every feature on the advert. Some things were obvious, others more the type of thing you'd need to read the manual for.

Annoyingly, I didn't download or screenshot the ad and it's no longer online so I have no record of it. However, I am 100% certain that one particular feature was on there (heated seats) because my DH and I had had talked about this before we bought it.

I've now realised that there aren't heated seats and I'm wondering what else was on the original ad that is missing too!

Do I have any comeback with the dealership on this? Are they likely to have a copy of the advert and if they did, would they even share it with me?

Google your registration number, sometimes old adverts can be dragged from the depths of the internet.

Most likely there’ll be a disclaimer on the bottom of the advert re errors and omissions. It’s pretty obvious whether a car has heated seats or not and I’d expect to check that kind of thing before purchasing.

At the bottom of every Autotrader ad:

Specifications
The data displayed above details the usual specification of the most recent model of this vehicle. It is not the exact data for the actual vehicle being offered for sale and data for older models may vary slightly. We recommend you check the vehicle details with the seller before you buy.

Yeah there isn't a thing you will be able to do at this stage.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 15/10/2021 16:24

As far as tyre pressure monitoring - this has been required by EU law for any car sold new since 2014 so may be fitted anyway depending on age.

As a PP said, heated seats should be obvious.

Also cruise is pretty easy to spot.

Depending on the car it may be possible to retrofit some or all of what you want. Cruise is pretty easy to fit to quite a lot of cars.

Do you have any documents from the sale? It should detail all features.

anniegun · 15/10/2021 16:39

I think going back after a couple of months is completely unreasonable. You might have had a case immediately after the sale (and if you had the ad). But not at this stage

rslsys · 15/10/2021 16:48

You might be able to use the Wayback Machine website to fine the original Autotrader ad.

SusieBob · 15/10/2021 16:49

Honestly I think you have zero chance of anything a couple of months down the line.
