My husband is on a flight to Scotland as we speak. I am scared of flying and watch my loved ones on flight radar till they land safely. His flight has dropped 10,000 feet in the last 4 minutes.

He's 20 minutes from landing.

Please someone tell me this is normal. He's down from 35k to 22.5k feet!

I'm shitting myself!

Chill OP Wine. It's fine. Smile

Descent usually takes about 30 minutes from cruising altitude to landing on the ground. So 20m from landing they should def be going down 😀

pussycatlickinglollyices · 14/10/2021 19:43

He should be landing any second now...

He's on the runway and will taxi back now.

You can open your eyes now OP

NigelSlatersXmasTaters · 14/10/2021 19:45

He's probably nodded off if he's anything like my OH. Wake up!

Woahbodyforrrrm · 14/10/2021 19:45

I understand OP....i do this OP when my oldest son comes back and forth from Canada where he lives.....it’s always 3 flights .....I end up exhausted 😩.... it’s really not healthy but I can’t help it.... I feel that by tracking the flight I am keeping him safe....I know...madness🙄 .... I don’t like flying myself but I do it as the alternative is no foreign hols.... I was fine until I was in my early 20s and went through bad turbulence and that did it for me.... I’m more anxious when my sons over water....less anxious when he’s over land....it get a couple of breathers when he lands and is in transit before he takes off again.... I’m sure your partner will soon be safe and sound on the ground again.

Glad you're ok @Woahbodyforrrrm

I highly recommend following random planes on flight radar, it's fun and they always get there Grin

Tell your DH we escorted him down to safety

Royalbloo · 14/10/2021 19:49

Stop tracking them!

FictionalCharacter · 14/10/2021 19:50

I hope you can break this habit of anxiously tracking people’s flights!

Just one thing to bear in mind about Flightradar, there’s a slight lag so it isn’t 100% accurate in real time. Just in case you ever see something weird and panic.

I absolutely get what you mean about feeling calmer when they're over land!

3 flights in succession must be awful 💐

I know nothing g about aviation but I'm sure if he's 20 mins away from landing that it's the plane beginning to descend to land.

Yep. The line from Airplane says it best “you’re going to have to come in pretty low to land this plane”

I've found my people!
