Hello! Currently in early stages of planning bathroom revamp and looking for inspiration and ideas. ESP for bathrooms on the smaller size. Loved the bedroom thread that was on here recently so hoping for some nice bathroom pics to inspire me! I don’t really know where to start in terms of planning a new bathroom!

I’ll post some pics when mine is finished in a few days…

Hard to get a good picture of it, because it is small and the door is into the middle of it - but here it is. It has a Japanese-style soaking bath with a shower over it, which is deep but short

I don’t have the link or the name of the thread but there was one in the last few months when a poster posted a pic of her ideal bathroom and then a bathroom of a house she’d just moved into and asked for tips, and then showed an update with pictures and it looked really good. Sorry, can’t remember the thread but I remember the bathroom was grey-coloured

How do you find the Japanese-style bath. @Weedoogie? I'm assuming you sit on a shelf and because it's smaller but deeper, you can sit up to your shoulders, or not far off without using astonishing amounts of water?
MsSquiz · 14/10/2021 11:53

Here's ours, we had it done 2 years ago. It was originally a tiny "family" bathroom (smaller than your average en suite) and an en suite that we knocked into 1 room.

It's wood effect tiled floor with underfloor heating that both DD and the cats adore!

Can I ask the dimensions of the room @MsSquiz ?

It's lovely, by the way.

SoniaFouler · 14/10/2021 11:58

That looks AMAZING @MsSquiz !!

SoniaFouler · 14/10/2021 12:00

And yours @Weedoogie but I am wondering how long it takes to fill up a bath that size? I’d be constantly worrying about the water bill and would probably only fill it half way because of it lol

Weedoogie · 14/10/2021 12:03

@TorchFire

I got it from a company called Omnitub. It doesn't have a separate seat, just a flat bottom; but it is short, so unless you're short, you can't sit with your legs straight out but with your knees bent iyswim. Water comes up to my shoulders. My 5'1" wife used to be able to sit in it with legs flat but I'm 5'10" and can't; my 6'2" son likes to use it, so it's not cramped, just different. And there wasn't room to put a full length bath in.

The baths come in different dimensions, both width and length.

Weedoogie · 14/10/2021 12:05

@SoniaFouler

Doesn't take any longer to fill than a normal bath and i don't think it does use any more water than a normal bath, because it's shorter- but I haven't done the maths to check

MsSquiz · 14/10/2021 12:16

@mammajustkilledagnat I have no idea, but I can find out this afternoon.

leiaskye · 14/10/2021 12:29

Here is mine. No shower as we have ensures.
Room is only 2m x 2m.

I love it!

DarceyDashwood · 14/10/2021 12:33

Thank you for these so far! Both gorgeous!

@MsSquiz that blue is stunning

@Weedoogie i think your bathroom is probably around the same size as mine.

I know I definitely want Victorian subway style tiles and a sink with a vanity unit. And a bath that is actually comfortable for a short person like me to be in!

This shows how clueless I am - but do you get your tiles done after the bathroom suite is in? And does the tiler take out your old tiles?

I’ve lived with our old bathroom for 7 years and can’t handle it any more. I need to just get on with it!

@leiaskye I love that!! That’s about the size of ours so nice to see! I think your vanity unit with sink is the sort of thing I’m after

Before (mint green walls and a peach suite!)

Not quite finished. I've made a wooden bath panel and under sink unit since these photos and tiled a few other bits but you get the idea!

Buy the bathroom suite and get it delivered and then get the tiler in before it's installed. The tiler may want to tile behind/under basins/baths/toilets but also may need to put tiles on the wall after the basin and bath are installed. He or she can assess what he needs to do and in which order when they know what stuff you've got. You may need their advice about the dimensions of the stuff you need to buy
DownWhichOfLate · 14/10/2021 12:48

@ShowOfHands Shock. Your bathroom is amazing! Where are the floor tiles from, please?

DarceyDashwood · 14/10/2021 12:49

@Weedoogie thank you. The thought of go-ordinating it all is a bit overwhelming which is why I’ve left it for so long. But I get so jealous of other people’s gorgeous bathrooms I just need to bite the bullet. My DH is useless at DIY and would happily never decorate ever so it falls to me to be the proactive one (he is great at other things so let him off rather than LTB 😂)

@ShowOfHands that is absolutely stunning. What a transformation. I adore the floor and your radiator

We pinched part of a bedroom to make an upstairs shower room as our main bathroom is downstairs.
We had the shower tray and pipework all in place before tiling. Then the shower head, loo, basin etc were fitted in place afterwards.
