To ask what other things only look good on Instagram

Following on from the thread about grazing tables, where people were saying they only look good on Instagram but end up looking a mess in real life, what other things are there?

Those balloon numbers above a present pile. Look great on Instagram but just sort of sadly bob in the corner of the room.
Also, gazebos outside with fairy lights in. Look great at the right angle/lighting/filter but when you just see it in your garden in the grey light it's kind of sad

Selfies! Honestly, some of the women I’m at Uni with, I don’t recognise them in real life 😂

Yes to selfies! I agree about not recognizing people. For me , it's the lack of the wider picture , so a cappuccino with a book next to it. I always picture someone sitting in lovely clothes, serenely reading. Its probably someone in their trackies in one of those really bleak retail park Cafe Neros, going on their phone and ignoring their book

Ballet dancers. Look amazing in a photo, captured in a moment in time, but a different story when you watch them actually dancing.

@NewLifePending I saw somebody in Tesco who is a friend of a sibling. Well I didn’t know I saw her until she said “Oh, hello Solitarytree” We knew each other and followed each other on Instagram and she posted allot of selfies. Anyway I really thought hard and I just didn’t know who she was so I had to say “I’m so sorry but I don’t know who you are, how do you know me?” And she said “It’s me… instagramselfielady” and unfortunately as it wasn’t a pre-planned situation I just blurted out “I’m so sorry, I didn’t recognise you in real life”
I called my sibling to tell them and they were mortified!

Flower crowns and selfies. Hate the fact that everyone and their dog uses those stupid face filters. Ugh.

Floating breakfasts in swimming pools.

Having young children. Always looks idillyc on Instagram but the reality is a tedious, irritating, messy, noisy shit show

Most people’s faces. And bums… we’ll I assume, I don’t go round looking at people’s bums in real life but I don’t believe they’re all as smooth at the influencers like to make put in their holiday shots!

I never see any bums in RL that look remotely like IG bums. A friend is an 'influencer' her IG bum looks enormous like Kim K.. her real life bum is small and in proportion to her size 6/8 frame.
