AIBU to play date with ill kids.

Dc1 is 3.5 dc2 is nearly 4months. Play date arranged since last week with my two friends and their kids, all similar in age.

My kids are fine however friend messaged to say her kids have the cold, have lateral flow tested them both twice and it’s negative. She was letting us know but is saying happy for us still to meet if we want.
Thoughts please ?
YABU - my kids will catch it
YANBU- go, all these germs go round in a circle and I’ll catch it at some point

YABVU not to bother with a proper title

MiniPumpkin · 12/10/2021 15:27

Why has she only done LFT? If they are ill they should be doing PCR.

No, I wouldn’t be having a play date with them. Even if it is just a cold, if yours catch it they will have to have negative PCR to be able to attend nursery/school.

Your call. I've stopped as i cant be doing with missing paid for acyovities, esp if a cold has a cough and needs a pcr.

rbe78 · 12/10/2021 15:30

If it's the cold I've got (and my household, and my DSC's household, and my DSC's entire school) has got, you DO NOT want it, I promise you!

MiniPumpkin · 12/10/2021 15:34

That’s a good point re pcr and potentially missing nursery
Anyone know if I can edit this post so it has a title ? Mind you I think I’ve found my answer

If it’s a cold with a cough I’d cancel, just snotty crack on.

fruitypancake · 13/10/2021 19:50

Outdoor at park maybe as a compromise

Kb2942 · 13/10/2021 19:53

I wouldn't. Kids can catch the sniffles from anywhere but I try and avoid if I know someone's ill. If your kids catch it it means you and your kids potentially needing covid tests too! Nasty colds going round atm too!!

If my kids had a cold I would cancel a play date! I wouldn't want to spread it around.

Waspsarearseholes · 13/10/2021 19:55

We've all had this shitty cold. I'm on my third week, my two year old is just becoming less snotty and she's on week 4. It's been pretty awful. I think this winter is the perfect storm though - masks and social distancing for 18 months means most of us haven't had colds for over a year and then we all start mixing again and all the usual illnesses are going round. This one is a humdinger, I can promise you that!
