Even though it goes against all my principles. My ds4 is in and out of hospital a lot so he usually gets 80-85% attendance and we get the moaning letters from school that ask if we want "support" from the school nurse to improve his attendance
. So I hate 100% attendance awards with a passion.
We had the year group awards ceremony's at school last week and this week. DS1 is very academic, joins in every club etc and has so many badges on his blazer he is running out of space (he has about 25 I think). He came home with 7 certificates, 7 badges and 3 trophies.
DS2 really struggles with school. He is autistic and has physical disabilities as well. He tried to kill himself during lockdown 3 and it was like a scene from casualty in a and e with him being rushed into resus and nurses and drs rushing around etc. For some reason he decided to log in for registration just after he took the overdose and then logged in again the next day when he got back from the hospital. So because of lockdown his attendance was counted for both days, despite him being in hospital (including resus and hdu) for the 28 hours in between.
So ds2 came home with his 100% attendance award, zero sanctions award and runner up for one of the faculty awards. I'm so proud of him, I could burst
