I don’t know if I’m making a mistake

I have secured a permanent job while I should be happy but I keep crying all of the time. I love my temp job and it’s the best job I have ever had and the people are really nice, I could get the job permanently. The downside of the temp job is it is a 40 minute drive to get there and petrol would cost £1500 a year whereas the local job is 10 minute drive and £235 a year in petrol. The local job pays nearly 2k more too. I will save time on commuting which getting up early is tiring. I can’t help but mourn for my loss. I don’t know if I’m making a mistake.

What makes you think you won't love the new job just as much, or more?

Practically in the current climate, permanent is likely a little better. What type of work are you in and how long have you been temping for?

CareBear50 · 11/10/2021 20:03

So that's a diff in your pocket if give or take 3k a year? V roughly. So that's about £60 a week.

Is your mental health worth that? Can you afford it? How permanent is your temp job??

Some important questions to ask yourself. If you're crying a lot...something def needs to change.

All the best OP x

This doesn’t sound like a normal reaction, sorry, is everything ok?

QuestionNumberOne · 11/10/2021 20:11

You might love this new job even more Smile

I’m going back to an old employer where I have done permanent and temporary work before. While there are new staff I’m just worried they may try and pile work onto me like old staff did.

My current place it’s a very manageable workload and I listen to my favourite music all day. Not allowed a radio at job offer place. Saying that my colleague at the temp job office confessed today he has an interview and has had enough so it would probably won’t be great if he left and I may get lumbered with his work at the temp job.
