My entire feed is of only

  1. ads
  2. suggested random public posts that apparently I may like
  3. posts from various organizations I follow...not necessarily recent posts

Scrolling down and down and down.....not a single friend's activity.

An old friend's husband died a few weeks ago. The outpouring and support via FB was huge from everyone across the hobby "industry" that all our paths cross/connect. I had no idea because FB algorithms didn't think to send it my way. I only found out through a mutual friend at lunch weeks later.

I did wonder if people just don't post anymore on FB so the algorithm doesn't actually have anything else to play with other than the three things above.

I could unfollow everything except friends to get friends updates...but if I do then I do miss updates that I would like to have known about from organizations.

FFS I just want a mix of friends' updates, organizations, (and some ads I suppose)

If I come off facebook entirely in some kind of tantrum then I do miss out the small bits of useful info you do get 🙄

I barely use it now for the same reason. So many ads. I go on and just look up specific people who despite being favourites never appear on my feed!

Bigeggsinapackoften · 11/10/2021 06:42

Same here. All I get is selling groups, ads, and random orgs. Hardly anything from friends. Really has meant I don’t use it as much.

AutumnIsHere21 · 11/10/2021 07:03

I left a few months ago for very similar reasons.

SilverDragonfly1 · 11/10/2021 07:52

Get Social Fixer. You can do all sorts with it, filter posts, force FB to show latest posts first, exclude ads etc. I find FB almost unusable without it.

LadyCampanulaTottington · 11/10/2021 07:54

I only ever go on it for specific groups I am a member of. I never scroll for this exact reason.

Coffeey · 11/10/2021 07:56

It's unusable for It's original purpose.

SoupDragon · 11/10/2021 07:58

It's ridiculous. Sometimes it shows me nothing and tells me I should add more friends to see more. No, just show me the posts from the friends I have FFS!

N4ish · 11/10/2021 07:59

I think lots of people are ditching it for this reason. The algorithms push content at you that masks the stuff you’re actually interested in. They want you to spend time viewing content that creates revenue for them, family and friend updates don’t bring in money.

Whitefire · 11/10/2021 08:00

It is ridiculous, and then when it shows a friend's status it is from days ago.

@Whitefire

It is ridiculous, and then when it shows a friend's status it is from days ago.
That's what I get. I don't even follow many pages and stuff. It's like thanks for telling me now something that might have been good to know at the time.
