To send our child to independent school if dad disagrees

Put here for traffic as I was unsure if it should be in education section or in lone parents section ect. There really should be a coparenting section. I need it!

We have terrible secondary schools in the area and I strongly believe for a good few reasons (I won't say which as they're quite identifying) that our child would be better going to a private school. I didn't go to one but I do think they would benefit more. It would be a struggle for me to pay the fees but I'll make it work.

Dad will argue the opposite, as he does with everything else i do. What's stopping me just applying? Can I do that? We share 50/50 care.

Talk to the child and father. He can stop it if he's got parental responsibility. He's less likely to if child wants to go and has visited the school with you. It may be sadly up to you agreeing you will pay fees if he pays extras. My ex refused until I did so but now agrees it's the best school for DC and pays half.

Apply to the state schools as usual, put them into private and if he kicks up a stink and gets his own way in court (I doubt a judge is likely to agree with him, though), there's still a state secondary place to take up in September.
