I GOT THE JOB!

Evening,

I made a few posts here about an interview for a senior role that I had coming up earlier this week, I bossed the interview, and got a call a few hours after offering me the role, I'm really pleased!

As the role is internal for me, it'll be a transfer (I'll be moving to a different team)....

Is it unreasonable to not hold a leaving do, do you think?

I've been in my current role two years, and only tend to go to social work things that are within work hours... otherwise, I don't really attend things, and would prefer not to hold a leaving do.... but it seems to be the 'done' thing in my current team??

It’s a transfer, you’re not leaving. No do required.

HollaHolla · 09/10/2021 23:09

Congrats! I’d say no need for a ‘do’; especially if you don’t want one

GreyhoundG1rl · 09/10/2021 23:10

Well done! No leaving do required, you're not leaving.

WorraLiberty · 09/10/2021 23:12

Congratulations!

I've never known anyone to organise their own leaving do anyway?

If your colleagues from your current team want to organise a little drink, would you go?

WandaVision2 · 09/10/2021 23:13

A leaving do would be a bit weird seeing as you’re not leaving

Good shout... technically I'm not leaving the organisation, yes!

But others in my position, who have left our team to go to senior roles in different teams within the organisation have held leaving do's....

Maybe take in cake to have with your current team at tea time on your last day? Low key, but a way to mark your leaving them.

MrsTulipTattsyrup · 09/10/2021 23:32

And huge congratulations!

We're continuing to work from home....

Ah. Then a teams meeting where you all just have a chat and you tell them how much you’ve loved working with them? If your team is small, could you send them a cupcake or biscuits each to all eat together on screen?
