Do you like your DH when he drinks?

saturdaywoe · 09/10/2021 12:13

I don't drink.

DH is never shit faced but when he's had a few drinks you can tell. He's not aggressive etc just sloppy I guess.

I find him SO annoying when he's been drinking. Don't know why.

Is this normal?

Mine is adorable😂 I get annoying, super chatty and whip up my super early 2000s playlist😂

I think there is a big difference if you don't drink. I drink so i tolerate him when he had drinks no problem and vice versa. If I wouldn't drink then it would most likely feel different.

hangsangwitch · 09/10/2021 12:18

My DH is good fun when he’s had a few pints, then, after the 4th drink he becomes all quiet and boring. He is the dullest drunk you’ve ever met!

WheelieBinPrincess · 09/10/2021 12:18

Well I much prefer it when I’ve also had a de drinks. When I was pregnant I found it occasionally a tiny bit tiresome when we weren’t on the same page about something.

But no, I never didn’t like him.

WheelieBinPrincess · 09/10/2021 12:20

Also sometimes he got a bit soppy and sentimental which was nice but I have to be in the right mood to indulge all that. Or a bit pissed. Usually takes a bottle of wine 😂

CausingChaos2 · 09/10/2021 12:20

I don’t drink and it’s very rare for DP to have more than one. Could count on one hand the amount of times I’ve seen him tipsy or drunk, and fortunately he’s just very affectionate and giggly!

What do you find annoying about him?

TakeYourFinalPosition · 09/10/2021 12:21

Yeah I still like him, mine is largely the same, but a bit chattier.

I don’t find him annoying.

TheCanyon · 09/10/2021 12:22

When I'm sober? No, he's a pain in the arse. When I'm also drinking he's quite fun, until he's really pissed and starts phoning EVERYONE and puts shite music on.

Pinkchocolate · 09/10/2021 12:25

My husband rarely drinks but when he does he’s hilarious. Usually we drink together but one of the funniest nights of my life he was drinking and I wasn’t. He is hilarious, loving and will become best friends with random people. A couple of my friends husbands go the other way, they become too loud, obnoxious and aggressive. It would be a problem for me and I don’t think I’d be around it much.

BubblinTrouble · 09/10/2021 12:55

My DH doesn’t drink. But he tells me he finds me irritating as I get too excited and soppy. Grin

Exactly

This. With bells on it. Mist drunk people annoy me when I am sober, it’s why I drink.
Crunchymum · 09/10/2021 13:08

Now he is older, mine is a useless drunk so rarely drinks these days (one drink too many which is usually drink #4 and he falls asleep and suffers for it the next day!). He is fun at a party Shock

I can barely believe he is the same person I'd see dawn with after a night of partying Grin

VienneseWhirligig · 09/10/2021 13:17

Mine was soppy and affectionate when drunk, but had a habit of really fancying a chow mein, getting it then falling asleep Grin

LittleBearPad · 09/10/2021 13:20

When I’m sober - he’s generally quite entertaining.

Same when we’re both tipsy

olivehater · 09/10/2021 13:21

Mine is cute, can get a bit gobby and repeat stories I have heard a million times. But still like him and find him endearing.

ViceLikeBlip · 09/10/2021 13:22

My husband is awesome after 2 drinks - funny, affectionate, infectiously happy. After 4+ drinks he's as you describe- sloppy and irritating. And he's miserable as sin with a hangover!

Xyzzzzz · 09/10/2021 13:26

When I’m sober no he’s annoying. If I’m drunk too it’s fun ha.

1FootInTheRave · 09/10/2021 13:29

Mine is an ace drunk. We have a ball together tbh.

shouldistop · 09/10/2021 13:30

Sometimes he's a bit annoying depending what mood I'm in. He's just quite affectionate and dopey when he's drunk.

fairgame84 · 09/10/2021 13:30

Cute and funny until pint number 4 then after that he's annoying. Last night he burst my eardrum my making a loud stupid noise in my ear at pint number 6. I told him to stop at number 4 but he didn't listen. He's in bed feeling sorry for himself today. He vomited in the garden. It's my birthday. I've barely seen him. He's not my favourite person right now.

TheUnbearable · 09/10/2021 13:37

Mines a bit flirty but then it’s wasted as he tends to fall asleep.

Carbis · 09/10/2021 13:47

I’m with you OP. We both drank a lot when we first met but I cut down a lot trying to get pregnant and I started noticing it then.

Luckily he doesn’t drink loads very often now but when he does, I find him sloppy and annoying. My mum was / is an alcoholic though so I think that’s why.

This sounds like he drinks regularly so wth is he drinking that he vomits after 6 pints of it and has hangover he misses your birthday 😱
ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife · 09/10/2021 13:52

No. He gets loud and annoying and repeats himself.

Picklypickles · 09/10/2021 13:56

My OH is like Legolas when it comes to alcohol, he can pretty much drink his own body weight in spirits before feeling a slight tingling in his fingertips! He hardly ever drinks because, well, what's the point if it has no effect at all?!
