To think October is the best month with better weather than August?

Beautiful colours, Halloween, lovely weather, warm but with a slight nip... Summer's last hurrah.
My sister had her wedding in October as her groom didnt want it to be too hot...it was glorious!
We went to Brighton one October half term...again...glorious!
In a week the leaves will be on fire!

It's pissing down here and has been for the last few days

SpratsOnParade · 09/10/2021 11:53

YABU. The weather isn't the same across the U.K. It's been raining heavily for days here.

I like October. I’m on the South coast and we had several horrendous days this week- driving rain and very windy. ‘Squally showers’ is the term, I think 😂

But today is absolutely beautiful. Bright sunshine and warm enough to sit outside in a sheltered spot with a fleece or hoodie on.

DH and I got married at the end of October back in 2003 and it was a gorgeous day, albeit cold. Our wedding photos are lovely with a backdrop of red, orange and gold trees.

We are on holiday this week coming as it's half term in our part of Scotland. We generally stay in the UK in October and in the past few years have been in Yorkshire, Northumberland, Aviemore and Cornwall. Weather is generally dry, we're away at the moment and the weather forecast for the week is excellent.

I wouldn't say it's better than August but it's certainly better than the grimmest, wettest and shittest month of the year which is November.

InTheLabyrinth · 09/10/2021 12:06

October. Pissing rain, strong winds, squelchy paths where the leaves have started dropping, dark nights, and low sun in my eyes driving to work. Yep, perfect Confused

DuesToTheDirt · 09/10/2021 12:13

Pouring today. The last few days have been warm, but dark all day. No thanks.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 09/10/2021 12:13

I can't really enjoy the unseasonal good weather because it's so unpredictable, so long cycle rides could go horribly wrong if I get caught in a sudden tsunami.

BlueBloodedBlue · 09/10/2021 12:17

Ahh, but its half term soon which will inevitably lead to driving rain and a howling gale!

TakeYourFinalPosition · 09/10/2021 12:17

Nah; I like July and August.

October is nice too, in its own way, but it’s not better than August! It’s better than September, perhaps.

Cindi85 · 09/10/2021 12:18

I absolutely love October too.

Howshouldibehave · 09/10/2021 12:19

Nope-August is lovely-generally warm and sunny. It’s been cold, grey, wet and windy with a lot of really bad flooding here this week.

Roll on the spring!

lockdownmadnessdotcom · 09/10/2021 12:21

I agree. August (except the first few days of it) is usually a let-down and I don't know in what part of the UK it is "usually" warm and sunny - it really isn't. We'd be better having shorter summer holidays and adding a week to each of the May and October half terms for better weather.

Morgan12 · 09/10/2021 12:28

May and September are my favourite months weather wise. More so September.

malificent7 · 09/10/2021 12:32

Lovely sun here..SW.

It's been raining here all week, so no. August was glorious.

ThursdayLastWeek · 09/10/2021 12:41

No wasps, no jelly fish, less tourists, schools open - no contest.

TamponSupport · 09/10/2021 12:54

It's cold, grey, windy and raining. Has been for the past few days. You are wrong. August has much nicer weather!

lockdownmadnessdotcom · 09/10/2021 13:08

@AuntyMabelandPippin

It's been raining here all week, so no. August was glorious.
Whereabouts are you? I am in Hampshire and it was dull "tupperware" weather for the entire month. No or little rain, but no or little sun, either.
AuntyMabelandPippin · 09/10/2021 14:47

I'm in Scotland. We had the best summer we've had in the twenty + years we've lived here. Glorious from June till mid September.

Back to normality now.

Notdoingthis · 09/10/2021 14:49

Yes. I love a good Summer day and I love a good Autumn day. Not so keen on grey weather.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 09/10/2021 14:51

Nope. It's cold and wet. You feel like a twat driving in sunglasses but have to because of the low sun. There's the odd day you go out without a coat, you can guarantee you'll need it later though!

September is OK, November too. You know what to expect!
