DH and hobnobs

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 09/10/2021 10:02

DH doesn’t like chocolate biscuits. “He can eat them” if there’s nothing else, he says, but prefers plain. He’s a bit snobby about it, actually. I only like the chocolate ones, a plain one isn’t worth it to me.

I got us both a pack of hobnobs in our Tesco delivery yesterday. His plain, mine with chocolate.

Tidying up this morning to find HALF of the entire packet of the chocolate hobnobs gone, and the plain packet unopened.

Something like this happens practically every time I get some and drives me absolutely mad. WIBU to put half the packet of plain hobnobs out on the bird table for the birds? (Lighthearted… maybe Grin )

I would.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 09/10/2021 10:06

YANBU!!
Why did he do that?

Lamplighter49 · 09/10/2021 10:06

LTB it’s the only way

QuestionEverythingBaby · 09/10/2021 10:06

Do it. The birds would be more grateful.

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 09/10/2021 10:07

@CloseYourEyesAndSee

YANBU!! Why did he do that?
Because chocolate ones are nicer but he won't admit it Grin

Log it with the Police then LTB. I couldn't stay in a relationship with such a bare faced liar. Flowers and chocolate Biscuit for you OP..

rwalker · 09/10/2021 10:08

Easy answer by 2 packets of plain and a jar of nutella make your own chocolate ones .

SunShinesBrightly · 09/10/2021 10:08

He didn’t bother to read the writing on the packets.
He just saw biscuits and opened the first packet he picked up.
My DH does this.
He keeps buying half fat cheese (which is disgusting) because he can’t be bothered to read the label.

Ponoka7 · 09/10/2021 10:09

I'd have to confront him, or it would fester and I'd over-the-top react to another, probably minor, infraction.

Do this.
OdettySpaghetti · 09/10/2021 10:10

Semi melt a couple of the chocolate ones, top the chocolate with chilli powder, put them in the fridge to harden the chocolate back up then put them back in the packet. Then wait.

Strugglingtodomybest · 09/10/2021 10:10

Definitely OP! And in future, hide the choc ones!

MarshmallowSwede · 09/10/2021 10:10

This is the part of marriage people need to be warned about. Snacks will be eaten.

I hide certain snacks from my husband. I suggest you find a good hiding space. Trust me.. confronting, rationing and discussion doesn’t work. You’re going to have to take desperate measures here. It’s either you hide them or you kick him out of the house.

Howshouldibehave · 09/10/2021 10:11

I’d confront him.

‘If you don’t like chocolate biscuits and prefer plain, and there was a packet of each, why would you open and eat half of mine, when you know that I like the chocolate ones?’

I would need to know his answer!

Do you not think he'd notice they were chocolate after opening them and realise he 'doesn't like chocolate biscuits' before managing to eat half of them? You seem oddly certain that he didn't read the label rather than deliberately eat the OP's nicer, chocolate ones.

He obviously does like them if he ate half the packet. The OP said herself that he didn’t want to admit (chocolate ones are better) it.

Not certain at all. Just a suggesting a possibility. Your response is oddly confrontational for a lighthearted hobnob thread.

EvilPea · 09/10/2021 10:19

My DH does this.
Eats the ones me and the kids like because there’s nothing else and he’s bored. He doesn’t even like them

You are an evil genius!

FairyHuck · 09/10/2021 10:22

I hide my sweet stuff. Rightly or wrongly. I'm not a huge fan of sweet stuff but occasionally crave it. So I hide it. Amongst the salad. In an egg Box. Behind the pickles/pesto in the fridge. In my cereal box.
And you are absolutely right op, choc hobnobs are far superior

Etonmessisyum · 09/10/2021 10:22

Chocolate hobnobs are amazing, my sons favourite. I like both plain and chocolate. But I’d not eat biscuits I moaned about especially if they are someone else’s.

hide them, I have a bag of treats that are mine somewhere…I have no idea where hope I find them before they all go off

Doubledoorsontogarden · 09/10/2021 10:26

Mmm hobnobs…

Sorry, what again?

These sound like my ideal biscuit. Sweet and spicy. I wish someone would make them.
MrsTerryPratchett · 09/10/2021 10:36

My dad does this.

I can't help thinking his theory is that he does prefer plain. But if he eats the chocolate ones first, he gets them and then no one will eat the plain ones so he gets those too. Selfish bugger.
