To be panicking someone's stolen my keys

I can't find my keys. I've looked everywhere.

I had them yesterday afternoon, when I was collecting DS. Unlocked the front door, went back to the car to get the dog.

I'm now panicking that I left them in the door and someone took them and will come back to break in.

They haven't taken my car though so I'm probably being ridiculous.

Where the fuck are they!

God I do this all the time! They always turn up.

Did you lock the car? If yes they probably weren't left in the door. If no, are they in the car?

RedHelenB · 09/10/2021 07:40

How old is ds? If he's a toddler could he have hidden them somewhere? I've thrown my car keys away before!

puginamug · 09/10/2021 07:42

No they are not in the car, I've checked (car currently doesn't lock)

DS is a teen.

Also I manically cleaned our house yesterday so it's tidy but also I could have potentially put them somewhere ridiculous

You’re most likely to have put them down in a ridiculous place.
How old is DS? Could he have picked them up and put them somewhere.
Stay calm and thoroughly search every room including bags bins pockets etc.

good luck!

RedHelenB · 09/10/2021 07:44

Check your car all over too, they could have slipped down the side, that's happened to me before and my teenager found them .

Wigglegiggle0520 · 09/10/2021 07:46

In a shoe?

Hadjab · 09/10/2021 07:47

When you’ve found them, can I suggest you buy a tracker, either an Apple Air Tag or a Tile?

puginamug · 09/10/2021 07:51

Hadjab that is an excellent idea!

I generally find them in the pocket of a jacket I don't remember wearing.

icedcoffees · 09/10/2021 07:56

Have you looked under the car or in the dog bed/with the dog stuff?

I lost a key for a client yesterday outside their house - I was in a right panic and it turned out my beagle was sat on it HmmGrin

Beautiful3 · 09/10/2021 08:04

Check your pockets on whatever jacket you were wearing. Kitchen too. Did you go straight to the loo when you've got home? Check there.

ittakes2 · 09/10/2021 08:04

Down the back or behind the sofa?

ShuddaBeenMe · 09/10/2021 08:06

If I had a penny for every time I'd left mine in the lock outside overnight...

My guess is still the car.

shrugshrug · 09/10/2021 08:13

I hope you find them. 🤞
Promise a £5 or £10 to St Anthony - put it in the charity box of your choice when you find them.
I got a Tile.
Changed my life.
Well almost.
i was forever mislaying my keys or phone.

Happycow · 09/10/2021 08:17

Id try inside the shoes you were wearing / whatever is by the front door, under any bags in the vicinity, coat pockets, the junk pile in the kitchen, drivers seat in the car..

mdh2020 · 09/10/2021 08:21

This happened to me and 10 days later I found my keys - our house, car and my mum’s key - in the greenhouse. Have no idea how, why or when.

Retrievemysanity · 09/10/2021 08:25

On top of the car? You probably do the same thing on autopilot each time so try and remember what that is! Like a pp, mine are always in a pocket Grin

Roasteros · 09/10/2021 08:25

I lost car key for days once. It turned out that I had chucked it in the cricket bag I was bringing into the house at the time. Only found by accident.

ePurSiMuove · 09/10/2021 08:26

They are in your bag

FreeBritnee · 09/10/2021 08:42

Do you have a press button start function on your car? With mine it won’t start unless the keys are within a certain radius. So to eliminate whether the keys are somewhere close i could get in the car and try and start it. F it starts then I know they are close.

Etonmessisyum · 09/10/2021 08:45

I’ve got an air tag on mine, I try to keep them in one place but if I’m busy they can be put down anywhere so it’s quite handy mind you it relies on me not also losing my phone so I can beep them. Mornings can be hectic at times. I’ve found both my keys and the tv remote in the fridge before, remote control in the washing machine / toddler.
Hopefully they will turn up. Probably somewhere really obvious, I often forget what I’ve been wearing and they’ll be in a hoodie pocket or something. Good luck finding them

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 09/10/2021 08:45

My best one was when I had a convertible and I lost my car keys so was using the spare key. I put the roof down and put my hat on (it's a flat cap type style).

When I got home, I got out of the car, took my hat off and the missing keys slid off the top of my head. They'd been in the hat all along.

Janeaustenrocks · 09/10/2021 08:47

I found mine in the box where I put the dog lead. Threw the keys in at the same time. But it took two weeks to find them by accident.
Have a look where you put your dog stuff when you come in.

rainbowstardrops · 09/10/2021 08:52

Have you looked in the washing machine/tumble dryer? I've scooped things up with the washing before without realising.

CyclingIsNotOuting · 09/10/2021 08:58

I did this once. Our bathroom is downstairs and I had put them in the shower tray when I went for a wee.
