Advice??

So.. my younger brother died suddenly 6 years ago. He was 33 (18 months younger) no children of his own. My parents don't have any interest in me or my 4 children anymore ( youngest was born post death) my parents hated my brother when he was alive, they now hate me and my children, yet they make a massive effort with the children of my brothers partner. Am I unreasonable to feel jealous and let down?

YABU because they sound like very unpleasant people and expecting anything them to be pleasant sounds futile.

That is not a normal family dynamic you are describing. My only advice is to seek counselling to work through the impact your parents have had on you. Sorry you have to deal with them, they sound pretty awful

I also think you should get counseling. Nothing to do with you - this is all their issue.

Focus on giving your children a better family and caring for yourself.

Be direct and ask them why.

They hated him when he was alive - was there a valid reason for that?
If not it’s possible they now feel guilty and are trying to rewrite the narrative via his partner’s children
You know the truth so they’re choosing to cut you out instead of facing up to their own shitty treatment of their son

When it was the 2 of us.. they swapped between loving me or my brother. My eldest child had a serious health problem.. my parents flew back, yet refused to tell their son... I had to leave the hospital to call my brother!! It's a few years back..but it still hurts 💔xxx
