Mole biopsy

Posting on aibu for traffic

Had a mole biopsy just over 2 weeks ago from arm at hospital after being referred by doc to dermatology. Well, had it all cut out with a gap around it to ensure anything dodgy hopefully gone.

My dad has had skin cancer several times and I have young children and am having a bit of a mad panic this eve after not thinking much about it up till now.

My question is has anyone else had this and how long did you wait to hear back? I have read results take around 3-4 weeks...

DH regulary has skin biopsies & removal for SCC’S & BCC’s.

There can be a bit of a wait. He’s currently waiting for removal of something that had a biopsy in July, they phoned him about 3 weeks after the biopsy but he was out, they didn’t phone again and the letter confirming the results took another 2 weeks!

Yes, a family member recently.

Results only took a few weeks. They had to go back in for the results as it was melanoma. A further appointment was booked for a few weeks later for pre-op, as they need to go back in to make sure they removed it all. This was cancelled and remade for a further few weeks’ time. Just waiting for the op now, which they said would be in about 4 weeks.

NHS working well for us! The mole was removed two weeks after showing the GP.

Have to say @DixonD that the NHS worked well for me too, in that my mole was removed within 2 weeks too
I'm hoping the results now won't take much longer to let me know whether it's benign or not.

Yep July.
He had a pre op 3 weeks ago.
Last year he waited 7 months for urgent removal of a patch of cancer by MOHs surgery. His skin cancer nurse was chasing it up weekly for the last 2 months!

I hope you hear soon.

@Notashandyta, I had a mole removed back in July and a follow up appointment about two weeks later. Unfortunately it was a melanoma which was a shock. I then had more surgery in August to remove more skin and a lymph node. It was all so quick and organised. I've got to have more surgery but this time on my face, still waiting for that appointment, but the cancer is not so serious as the melanoma, so I'm not so worried. If the biopsy comes back and it's cancer you will get sorted quickly. The cancer nurse said that the mole has been removed already so the second surgery is just to make sure. That was reassuring. You will hear soon.
