Toddler test positive on pregnancy test?

Okay, so since giving birth 5 months ago, not had my period. I'm most likely 99 percent not pregnant but had spares laying around so thought I'd do a test. Very very faint positive.

However after researching the brand "freedom in knowing" apparently they give off fake positives (phew!)

So I thought I'd test out on my dd 3 to check. And within 30 seconds a definite clear positive test.

Now I know she's not pregnant but could this mean there is a medical underlying problem??

No it means the tests are shit.

galacticpixels · 07/10/2021 13:22

It probably just confirms your suspicion that they're not good tests?

She's at the hospital tomorrow to get her white blood cells recounted as they were too low 6 weeks ago.
I really hope it isn't related

I had a faint positive on these, heard horror stories so asked for other family members to take them. It turns out that my 17 & 18 year old SONS are also pregnant 😂😂

Rubbish tests - don’t buy them :)

Klac30 · 07/10/2021 13:37

Those tests aren't great op. I used them and it give me a false positive. I know they are cheap when Ttc or on a budget buy I'd only use a more reputable one now.

The funny thing for me is that with those cheap tests I tested positive when not pregnant but a couple months down the line they were negative when clear blue were saying pregnant. Swiftly put them in the bin after that.

Workinghardeveryday · 07/10/2021 13:37

That is dreadful!!! Can you imagine if you were trying and got a positive the disappointment that would follow

Exactly what I was thinking.

It would break a woman ttc in pieces
I'm gonna complain and see what avenues I can go down to get them removed from stores.

They're horrible tests - I had lots of false positives with that type (though to be fair I also had a real skill for seeing lines which weren't there).

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 07/10/2021 14:09

I do think though, that positives can indicate something...I think it might be diabetes?
I'm sure someone on here will know.

But it does also sound like those tests are shit

SunshineCake1 · 07/10/2021 14:11

Do the ones in the pound shop give false negatives ?

I hope your dd is okay at the hospital @blushmint.

VanillaIce1 · 07/10/2021 14:13

Tbh I've never had a bad experience with pound shops when I was pregnant positive. When I wasn't, negative Smile

And thank you!!!

Only if they're actually sugar dipstick tests that have been fraudulently packaged as pregnancy tests, which is possible but unlikely. They're probably just shit.

Avarua · 07/10/2021 18:19

This is terrible. Complain to the consumer agency there (sorry not in UK so I don't know what it's called there).

It’s if a male gets a positive, it can indicate some types of testicular cancer, which make HCG. Despite being rare, it’s the most common cancer in males ages 15 to 35.
