If you can afford it, treat yourself. Why shouldn't you have something you love?

Divebar2021 · 06/10/2021 16:44

Why don’t you look at the coats on Raey like me and fall in love with one for £800…. Then you won’t mind paying £350 for the Toast one.

ParishSpinster · 06/10/2021 17:27

Can you sew? If so, buy yourself the fabric and a pattern.

If not, buy the coat.

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 06/10/2021 17:30

Can you find something similar but cheaper?

This one?

I like the fact it’s actually made in the UK. The reviews suggest you should size up.

If you’re going to wear it straight away, buy now. If not then you could risk waiting for the sales, but you’d mind if they sell out if your size.

Order it. You’ll know when it arrives whether it’s worth it to you, or not!

God, Toast gets more expensive all the time. Yikes. I've finally worn out my duffel bought there about 15 years ago, so they are quality garments. Luckily I have a pristine replacement I bought on eBay on the hottest day of last's years lockdown for £10, I was the only bidder...

Seesawmummadaw · 06/10/2021 17:42

Buy it. Never scrimp on coats, bags or shoes.

Anordinarymum · 06/10/2021 17:47

I have more than one winter coat, and they are all pretty decent. I have had them all a long time and would love a new one but... they all still fit and look OK so what I do is buy a really lovely scarf instead and it usually does the trick. I bought a Burberry scarf last year to wear with the black coat and I am looking at a John Lewis one on eBay as we speak

Cottagepieandpeas · 06/10/2021 17:50

Buy if you have the money. Hopefully it will last for years. It’s lovely. I like Toadt but rarely buy full price - but obviously waiting for a sale is a gamble.

Wazzzzzzzup · 06/10/2021 17:50

I know! It takes me months to buy this stuff. But 150 quid dinner? No problemo!
🤦
Get it!

Cottagepieandpeas · 06/10/2021 17:51

*Toast (obviously)

notwavingbutdrowning5 · 06/10/2021 17:55

I shocked myself by buying a £525 Joseph coat 14 years ago. I loved it so much but oh, the guilt!

I have worn it every winter since and still love it, so the cost per wear has been phenomenally economical. If you love it enough, go for it

FindingMeno · 06/10/2021 17:57

I couldn't do it ( or afford it).
My winter coat was £3.50 in a charity shop and I love it Smile

nestoftables · 06/10/2021 18:01

There are alot of nice coats on Vinted. Bargains to be had. Including wool ones. Better for the planet too. I regret buying a new coat last year now.

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 06/10/2021 18:02

Order it and decide when you try it on, you cant decide until then anyway. If it is truly is fabulous then it's worth it. I spent too much on a coat 10 years ago and have worn every winter since, and its still in perfect condition because it was great quality. But you don't know yet if that's what it is.

Divebar2021 · 06/10/2021 18:08

Gloverall are the original wartime manufacturers of duffle coats… they do a short ladies one for £255. Different styling to the Toast one though.

The Toast coat is made by London Tradition. This is their own equivalent:

Tbh the more roomy shape of the Toast version is much more contemporary. One pays a premium for the design.

I bought a beauty from Hobbs two years ago, £300. I love it. do it.
