Would you go back?

Hairdresser absolutely butchered my hair the other week.
Manager has emailed asking me to go and speak to him.
Would you go? I feel horribly uncomfortable going back to the salon.
Would I be unreasonable to ask to meet him elsewhere?

Yes, YWBU to ask him to meet elsewhere.

Yummymummy2020 · 04/10/2021 20:13

I think if you want it fixed you will need to go back there.

MeridasMum · 04/10/2021 20:13

If you want to give him the opportunity to fix it, you have to go to the salon. YABU to think you could meet at another location

BasinHaircut · 04/10/2021 20:16

Yes absolutely.

I had a disappointing hair colour a few months back and actually, having gone back they admitted that it wasn’t good enough and put it right.

If they have asked you back in then they want to sort it.

dontgobaconmyheart · 04/10/2021 20:17

Yes its unreasonable to ask him to meet elsewhere, and a bit odd.

I get the anxiety OP, what do you want from the situation? Have you had a refund?

Can you not put whatever it is you do want in an email or text, say that unfortunately you don't have the time to come in and then move on. If you won't go back in presumably you won't be allowing them to have a go at fixing it either (which is entirely up to you) so what else can reasonably be done.

Sexnotgender · 04/10/2021 20:20

I absolutely don’t want them cutting it again. Also not bothered about a refund.
Honestly I don’t know what I want. My husband made me promise not to shave it all off😬

Erm, no you cannot ask him to meet you elsewhere. Is it really that bad??

Notimeforaname · 04/10/2021 20:26

It cant be that bad op 😫 maybe you're just looking at it too much??! Sorry..I'm just trying to think positively. I would absolutely be getting my money back though.

It’s awful. I cannot fathom why she thought I’d want my hair to look like this!

Is it akin to when Phoebe cut Monica's hair like Dudley Moore?? How bad are we talking?

Just put on a hat or keep your hood up. Perhaps ask if you can speak in back room/office if possible?
I'd get my money back and go elsewhere. I'm sure it can be fixed up by someone else.

TunnelOfGoats · 04/10/2021 22:14

I think you need to give him the opportunity to try and put it right, or at least improve it. I'm sure he cares about his business, and is trying to make you happy

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 04/10/2021 22:15

If you don’t want them to fix it then is there anything to gain by going back in?
If it’s more for their benefit so they can see the issue then you could just send some photos

I genuinely thought about shaving it all off it’s that bad.

You lot are going to make me be a grown up and go back aren’t you 😫

I was sitting beside a woman at the salon last week and she had been really unhappy with her hair.
The manager had sat her down and asked what she wanted and she didn't know. He said she could come back when it had grown and they would offer free styling until she was happy.
To be fair, she had some sort of a graduated bob that looked really awful.

Cocogreen · 04/10/2021 22:20

I'd say he's doing damage control so you don't give the salon a shocking review online somewhere.
Did he see the end result?
I don't think you have to go back in if you don't want to but he might want to see why you hate your hair.
I'd email back and see what he wants.

He wasn’t there the day I had my hair cut.

I was meant to go on Saturday for a follow up appointment so stylist could finish the cut off when my hair had “settled”. I obviously didn’t go as it was already such a disaster and I didn’t trust her to make it any better.

I think she knew she’d made a hash of it.

Graduated Bob is an oxymoron but it sounds awful. Poor woman! Manager sounds like they are good at their job.

fori · 04/10/2021 22:30

It will be good for them to actually see it, it could be a lesson learned for others of what not to do or it could be the last straw for this hairdresser. Going back could help prevent this happening to other plus I think you deserve your money back at the very least. Don't be scared to go back, you know you aren't in the wrong.
