To ask if you like your sink

Shamelessly posting here for traffic. Can’t decide if a black composite sink is a good idea or not - anyone have one? Should I just stick with indestructible stainless steel? Picture attached of my kitchen design - handles are black so thought a black sink would tie in but am doubting that now too. Should I go white composite or stainless steel? Argh have been staring at kitchen designs for too long!!!

I would go for stainless steel. Is there any chance of going for an undermount sink? They are very smart and make the kitchen look more expensive.

We have black composite, really like it. Easy to keep looking clean.

Gingenius · 04/10/2021 19:41

Thanks for posting @Mosaic123. Yes I love the look of undermount but can’t have it unless I upgrade the work surface by a couple of grand from laminate to quartz. 😔

I heart stainless steel, bit less glass smash-ey

Gingenius · 04/10/2021 19:42

@passionfruitpizza that is good to hear. I’m worried it’ll stain if things like bleach go in it….

I have a composite sink and love it. I probably wouldn’t choose black unless in a very soft water area but I have the Blanco ‘alumetallic’ colour and like that.

Subeccoo · 04/10/2021 19:45

Black composite here, it's lovely and very easy to keep clean

Allywill · 04/10/2021 19:48

I have a white enamel Belfast sink. Lovely and big but it has chipped by bloody kids throwing stuff (knives? Utensils?) from across the room. It also has a nightmare overflow thing that is a bastard to clean.

Hopeandglory · 04/10/2021 19:57

I have a black composite sink in a hard water area, very easy to clean and so far (2 years) seems indestructible

BatshitCrazyWoman · 04/10/2021 20:00

I moved into my house at the beginning of the year, and have an undermounted straight sided stainless steel sink, and white quartz worktop. Hate it! The quartz would be acceptable if I didn't have an undermounted sink. It's all hard to clean - a sort of lip under the quartz where the sink is. Straight sides mean there are actual corners that require a knife wrapped in a cloth to clean them

Previous house had Corian worktop which led seamlessly to the sink, also Corian, white, curved and easily cleaned (you could bleach it). Am thinking of getting Corian again.

We’ve got the blanco dark grey 1.5 sink with our dark grey quartz worktop.
We have under counter Belfast in utility and tbh I don’t like it as much as the composite.
Had ours a year and looks fab.
Had stainless before and they are a ball ache to keep shiny and stain free!!

Ilovemycar77 · 04/10/2021 20:16

Also agree with poster above me, the lip around the quartz with the Belfast is a pain and seems to collect dirt!!
