To not understand how people get stuff done...

I have a five week old and I am so tired. There's washing up to do and laundry to put away and these every day tasks seem to take so much time and energy. I will get it done because it needs to be done but there's also a bag of baby clothes that needs putting away, baby gifts still in their gift bags and clothes to sort out as half of them are the wrong size now 🙈
Does it get easier as they get older? My baby barley slept last night so I've probably had 2 hours sleep if that... The freezer meals are going to be all used up soon so cooking will be soon be added to the list of things I need to do so I don't see how I'm going to ever get around to the stuff that needs doing but isn't essential right now if that makes sense 🙈

Yes it gets easier! You're still in survival stages right now. Don't do anything that isn't essential, and get other people (including baby's dad!) to do as much as possible! It's not your job to put away the baby gifts etc, and you should be sharing laundry, cooking and night wakings.

Your main job right now, is keeping your baby alive. You are succeeding at that, so give yourself a big pat on the back right now.

It will pass, it will get easier. Until then, conserve your energy for the things that really matter.
