to ask MEAT EATERS if you buy free range or standard chicken?

I got attacked on my last thread for saying I buy standard supermarket chicken. Considering only 4% of all of the chicken produced in the UK is free-range and only 1% is organic I don't think I am unusual in doing this?

YABU = I'm a meat eater and only ever eat/buy free-range chicken.
YANBU = I buy standard chicken.

I only eat fee range chicken or eggs. I will go without in restaurants if it's not free range.

The cruelty is awful. These are living creatures just being grown for their meat in inhumane conditions.

I also only have organic dairy for the same reasons. Ditto free range pork.

Some people have really fallen for the falsehood behind the names given to meat/eggs etc.

The media really have done a number.

When I do eat chicken we tend to buy it from a well respected farm shop that is quite transparent, but we rarely eat it - maybe once a month?

Those on the thread who say they don't care how chickens are treat, are cruel! It's grim how some are treat. Would you be happy your cat/dog being kept the same way???

What's a broiler chicken please?

I'd Google it but the name sounds ominous and worried what I'll see... Confused

It’s chicken purely breed for meat purposes.

Oh thank you!

I eat meat but I don't usully eat chicken, it's much harder to get decent quality birds than the rest of the things I usually eat.

YANBU - the standard stuff. I'm not even that poor I am just conscious with my money. I spend a lot on healthy food so adding organic/ free range meat to the bill is too much for me to justify
