Loud bangers

What kind of half wit randomly sets these things off in October?

Firework displays around November 5th are one thing, but it's just relentless for months these days. Are their lives that empty? Or are they just sadists who like frightening people/pets?

These things go on for weeks round here. My cats get scared and can't go for their evening fresh air in the garden. There's massive facebook arguments about them on the village facebook page. I hate them.
