No I don’t think so why ?

StripeyBadger · 02/10/2021 22:49

No, they aren’t.

Clevs · 02/10/2021 22:50

Some of them may have worked in A&E before.

ffscatmove · 02/10/2021 22:51

Not necessarily in my experience - depends on the NHS Trust & the purpose of the unit (assessment, short term inpatients, ambulatory care). There aren't enough specialist ED staff to go around.

Envoitrevisage · 02/10/2021 22:51

Not specifically, though some staff will be on rotation and some staff might be doing additional shifts etc.

Spikeyplants · 02/10/2021 22:56

Why do you ask?

PinkiOcelot · 02/10/2021 22:57

Not where I work, no.

MichelleScarn · 02/10/2021 22:58

Possible if they are doing it as bank or they're horrifically stuck for staff. As per pp, why?

IAmSantaOhYesIAm · 02/10/2021 22:58

Not in my trust although a few have had a&e experience and they are managed by the same senior matron as a&e

Mossstitch · 02/10/2021 23:02

In our trust some of the doctors and Allied Health professionals cover emergency dept and acute medical units, not the nurses though, they seem to be specific to one area unless doing extra bank shifts when they can choose where to work.

sweatpantsofdefeat · 02/10/2021 23:16

No. Different types of staff will work on AMU's vs ED.

CDU's (clinical decision units) do often have the same staff as ED though. Appreciate that wasn't what you asked.

LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE · 03/10/2021 10:15

Both come under the heading of "unscheduled care" and as PP have said, there may be some cross over from that point of view. The AMU doctors may move between AMU and ED to see patients. Medical and Nursing staff may do bank work in both areas as there is often a lot of cross over in the skill set.
