I'm addicted! Sometimes I find myself scrolling endlessly and I have better things to do. Maybe I don't but I could look to see if there are things to do. I just tell myself one more scroll through and I'm done! It rarely works. I still come back.

Aibu to be addicted? I think I am but I need telling off!

Moonshine5 · 02/10/2021 22:19

Kljnmw3459 · 02/10/2021 22:20

Time ladies please!!!!

CelloYouveGotABass · 02/10/2021 22:30

What’s your priority right now? Probably not mindless scrolling

KeepTwirling · 02/10/2021 22:30

Yes we should.

Support group sounds good.

Just to go to bed really or sit and process the day's event. That's probably why I can't stay away. I usually do if I have something important to do but I still want to be able to not scroll mindlessly if there's nothing I'm engaged in here either.

God me too. HELP.

SquirrelFan · 02/10/2021 22:46

Same here. Gave it up for Lent --it was so hard but I was more productive and happier. Then went straight back on!

Cryalot2 · 02/10/2021 22:50

Another addict here. Am lying in bed on my holiday on mumsnet. I need to get a grip

Stickykidney · 02/10/2021 22:53

Me too. I finally have a a day to myself and was going to read A book... remember books? And yet here I am....

MarineBlue33 · 02/10/2021 22:56

Help! Me too

Time40 · 02/10/2021 23:03

I've got blocking software (something called Self Control) for when I'm really bad. In fact, I'm going to put it on tonight.

TheQueenOfDreams · 02/10/2021 23:06

I actually just watched a film without scrolling on mn at all. Big achievement for me. I am just about to go to bed and read but first, I want to see what’s going on here....I’ll only be a few minutes...honest...

MissOrganisedMe · 02/10/2021 23:12

Aw, this is me! I put a blocker on it and lasted around an hour.

I really need to get rid. It's mindless.

Youdoyoutoday · 02/10/2021 23:18

Me too!!

Then I moan I have no time to do anything yet my phone tells me how many hours I'm wasting on my phone!! 🤦‍♀️

KeepTwirling · 02/10/2021 23:25

I had a blocking app and software. I blocked mumsnet a few times.

'Had' is the word.
I kept unblocking and just gave up. Practising self-control, cold turkey.

I can't even when theres good tv on. Free guy is on Disney plus tho

everythingthelighttouches · 02/10/2021 23:30

I’m the same. Totally addicted.
I think I do it as a distraction technique.

I even do it if I wake in the night. I just feel like I need something to occupy my mind with but there are so many other things I could do that would be more productive. Reading a good book would be one.

postingfortraffichere · 02/10/2021 23:38

Same OP, DH now even asks me what's going on on MN today 😂😂

malificent7 · 02/10/2021 23:42

Ive been addicted for 13 years!Blush

Innovationstandard · 02/10/2021 23:48

It's really interesting though, it's like being at the world's biggest tea party or wine bar whichever you like best and there's room for everyone. I've been on here for 16 years so there's no hope....I pay the subscription and everything as so worried it will disappear one day

Sunshinesandice · 03/10/2021 00:00

I literally sit here and scroll through sections of mumsnet that don’t even resonate with me or are relevant . Like I’ll be scrolling through and end up on a thread about knitting needles and think to myself , why? I don’t knit.

KeepTwirling · 03/10/2021 00:00

Haha the streets of MN. Was just telling someone it's like a building full of people all having different conversations and you can go and join in anywhere.

Or in this case, we can walk through the hallways, peeking into every room instead of going home.

OP posts:
Holskey · 03/10/2021 00:17

I've been thinking exactly this. I don't even get that much out of it!

BoredZelda · 03/10/2021 09:41

You could just commit a minor indiscretion which could very vaguely be considered somewhere close to against the T&C. MN will quickly permaban you with no warning or notification.

This won’t work if you have one of those well known usernames as that allows you to say and do anything without being banned. Or if you are actually a troll, as long as you have one or two other posts under your belt.
