To say that a child's whinging is the most annoying sound in the world?

I have a 3.5 year old and a 2.5 year old, whinging has become their favourite method of communication.

It's never "I want juice please" it's always "I want juuuuuuuuice, urghh I want juuuuuuice" replace juice with any 1 of 100 other things with monotone whining thrown in and it's non stop. All day.

I stand firm and tell them to speak properly, I don't reward the whinging, I ignore it but it makes no difference. It's their default.

Does anybody else get the major hump with the sound of incessant whinging?

Hell yes. I once said, exasperatedly, to my four year old "Will you PLEASE stop whinging!"
She responded with "But that's my happy whinge!" I didn't know to laugh or cry HmmGrin

Haha. What gets me is 'muuummmmmyyyyyyyy' if they call out from another room. Why not a quick snappy 'mummy?' 😁🙄

It is singularly annoying. I used to put my hand up in the stop signal, immediately, and say, 'nope. Whatever you are about to say, say it without whinging, and if it needs a please, then add it. Please'.

If they started again, they got sent to their room, and not to come out until they could use their proper voice.

There is only one thing worse than a whining kid.

And that's a whining adult, who didn't have it drummed out of them as a kid!
