CF postman?

My neighbor had his front door replaced with a more traditional looking wooden door with large black metal hinges and door knocker.
It suits the property and I thought nothing more of it.

Since the door has been changed I have been recieving the neighbors post. I have been round to post them back thinking it was a mistake only to find I can't fit larger letters in his letterbox so have resorted to knocking and trying to give them back. Most of the time he doesn't answer so I leave them behind a plant pot and post a note through the door but it's becoming annoying and I don't think it should be down to me to deliver his post!

I was in the front garden this morning and caught the postman putting my neighbors letters in my letterbox again. I asked him not to do this and to deliver them next door or leave a note if he was unable, or simply don't deliver them!

He then said he didn't have time for that and it was easier to deliver them here or the other side neighbours and for us to take them round. He can't stand all day knocking on doors!

It's there a way to get this to stop?! I have reported this to royal mail online but I doubt that will stop it.

The best advice given so far is to either keep reposting (for a sense of satisfaction) or to collect and take to a manager ( to actually resolve the issue)

@TheSparkling

I feel like we are all blaming the postie here but the real issue is the neighbour has a letter box that is not fit for purpose.

Take the post and tell your neighbour what the issue is. Then take it up with the postie that you are not going to accept someone else's post and do the opt out sticker.

Honestly I think the neighbour is the issue here even if he doesn't realise it yet.

The neighbour might be the issue but it's not OP's problem to solve. The postman needs to deal with it, not her!

I think your first port of call is to tell your neighbour that the postman has said the letterbox is too small, then ask them to either get a postbox or a bigger letterbox. A family I knew had a locakable postbox on the outside of their fence as they had a dog who roamed the garden.
If the neighbour is not willing to solve the problem then you can do as pp says and just request that the post is not delivered to you.

I would get a contact number for the neighbour and just text to say mail here. Make them collect rather than you deliver. Then suggest they buy one of the lockable mail boxes to site near their front door.

Your neighbour needs to get a postbox for the outside of his house, but whether he does or doesn't is not your problem!

Keep popping them back in the post box, to be re-delivered, eventually Royal Mail will write to you neighbour to say they will need to collect their mail from the delivery office. To be honest it’s not the postman’s fault, he will be under time pressure but that doesn’t make it your problem. Don’t deliver the mail for him. Your neighbour is at fault here because he’s deliberately chosen a letter box that is smaller. That’s not the posties fault.
