For saying DS just looks adorable!

DS5 has a hobby (won’t say as it’s outing), and he looks adorable in his little outfit.

When he dressed in it last night I said “awwww” and he asked why I always say that when he’s in his outfit.

DH said I am embarrassing DS and babying him for saying that he is just so cute.

Ps the hobby is karate!

If he's 5 it's cute. Not so much if he's 25.

Totally fine as long as DS isn’t embarrassed and you aren’t saying it in front of his friends!

DS4 also looks very cute in his rugby kit. I think they all look pretty adorable in most uniforms at that age.

Your ds will soon tell you when it starts to bother him. I remember the first time my eldest refused a hug going into reception, I had to respect him but inside I was a bit boo hoo 😆 he's nearly 30 now 6ft and gives me big bear hugs when I see him.

He is still a wee affectionate soul and gives
Me hugs and kisses no matter who is there

I wonder if he feels embarrassed because martial arts is maybe about being strong and brave and your Aww is just not on ! Fwiw I think you should aww him forever even at 25

@Mrsjayy my husband isn’t even an “alpha” male or blokey male at all.. he’d have no issue if it was even ballet that DS wanted to do. It just seems that my “awwwing” is a bit annoying (he does think I baby DS an awful lot though)

He is 5 though it's fine.

My DD is 22 with a baby or her own and I could still put her on a butty.

Karate is also about respecting the sensei, fellow karateka and others - perhaps remind DH of that... Apply dojo rules at home!

It's a sad day when you have to worry about saying 'aww'/thinking they're cute/giving them a hug at five years old. My 14 yo DS is the biggest hug monster there is, told me very loudly he loved me before he shut the car door this morning outside school, he couldn't care less who heard.

I have big spotty, smelly teenage boys, they still tell me they love me and give me massive cuddles and goodbye/night kisses.

I doubt it will ever stop, I am also training them in housework so their future partners won't have complete useless mummy's boys

Yanbu, you’re his mum. Just wondering why first you say you won’t say what his hobby is as it’s outing and then you finish with Ps his hobby is karate. 😂

@snowblack it was a wee joke. every second mn post mentions hobbies sooooo unusual that to say what they are would be “outing” lol. Where I live about half of children do karate.

@TracyLords ok sorry. Yeah they all seem to do karate here too..it’s either that or soccer.

@snowblack yip, football is very popular here too. DS didn’t enjoy it that much though
