AIBU to start my own political party

Probably won't, but here's what I would do:

  • money currently used to subsidize food for politicians would go towards school meals (it's not like politicians don't make enough as it is)
  • foreigners not allowed to buy UK property unless they are a resident of the UK long term, you can only own two properties at a time
  • no more zero hour contracts - part time contract as a minimum with flexible hours on top
  • companies with unsustainable policies to pay sustainability tax
  • any company that wishes to operate in the UK needs to pay UK tax (only on the UK portion of profit)
  • EU workers can live and work in the UK easily
  • equal parental leave
  • tax increase - with the additional tax covering better social welfare and the NHS
  • no more child benefit - might be unpopular but far too many people have kids without any real consideration of how they will long term provide/have a financial back up. With better housing policies and working conditions this should be easier to plan for. There shouldn't be incentives for people to have children especially with so many children not being cared for properly

What would you do if you were prime minister for a day? Grin

But only if they are happy to rent a property eh?

And if people can own a maximum of two houses, I'm not sure where all these rental properties will come from...

Also, great concept of business paying tax etc in the UK. In an ideal world absolutely yes. But realistically if not attractive businesses will go elsewhere and we will lose loads in employment and possible import/export duty...

Do you really think people with one child really think I’ll have a second child for the extra £14 a week. You don’t get child benefit for sequent children after that.

I would like to see easier access to contraceptive to reduce unplanned pregnancies.

What I'd do... Grin
Get on my hands and knees to Brussels and beg to be allowed back in.

Pay massive subsidies to those who can commit to sustainable farming methods

Enforce a minimum of 1hour per week cooking lessons (physical cooking not just learning about nutrition) in school for all 8+

Re-encourage apprenticeship schemes, making them mainstream or extended work experience for 14+

Offer big grants to green systems and require all new homes to come with solar panels and heat pumps as a minimum.

Foreign language lessons to be provided from Reception.

I realise schools have neither the time or money to install these practices so I'd need to do something about that too...

I'm sure I can think of a few more

And if people can own a maximum of two houses, I'm not sure where all these rental properties will come from...

Perhaps if some people didn't have large property portfolios buying property would be affordable for more people and the needed for private rented accommodation would decrease.

Subsidised meals costs £3m annually
Free school meals costs £20m a week.

Not sure what an extra £2.12 a year for each FSM would achieve. But I’m sure it’s a nice slogan to put on a bus.

But not the EU people OPs allowing in, was the point I was making.
