Is it unreasonable to ask your next door neighbour to stop sanding at 8.30pm on a weekday

It sort of depends if it is a one off or if the work has been going on for weeks/months? A one off I wouldn't say anything provided they shut up by 9pm...as we all have to get stuff done. However, if the work has been going on for weeks (or in the case of my previous neighbour....3 years) then it is not unreasonable to ask them to give it a rest. Otherwise people take the piss and convince themselves no one is bothered and they can do what they like.

Personally I wouldn't do noisy diy at anytime after about 6pm, but people seem to do what they like these days with no consideration for anyone else.
