Rant about Carphone Warehouse scammers!

I'm keep getting sick with these stupid 'carphone warehouse' scammers. Today, one called me via a private number an introduced herself an English name (when she wasn't as I could tell by her accent). Offering so-called deals for phones.

Ended up wasting around 15 minutes of her time by giving fake details LOL. She got mad at the end and had the audacity to call me stupid. I replied 'f*ck you' twice and hung up on her face. Anybody else had enough of these low-life pricks and what do you do when they call you? Angry

I had one of those today. Said he was from Car phone warehouse and he got my number from my provider but couldn’t tell me who my provider was and then hung up on me.

Lurkeycakewoman · 28/09/2021 20:59

They where calling me every day until a few weeks back I had the guy on the phone for a good 20 mins discussing what iPhone I'd like we decided on the Samsung iPhone Hmm then I asked him what bad stuff happened in his life that made him decide to scam people why didn't he go find a good honest job Grin
Hr started calling me names his supervisor took over and said he wasn't giving me a contract and it served me right I havent heard from them since

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 28/09/2021 21:02

Oh so it was a scam

I had a call yesterday and when they said they were from carphone warehouse i just hung up…i didnt give her a chance to say anything else 😀

NoraEphronsNeck · 28/09/2021 21:56

I also had one yesterday from them - I didn't realise it was a scam, I just thought it was a cold call so said no thanks and hung up.

Gymohithoughtyousaidgin · 28/09/2021 23:48

I love these calls. I kept them going for about 30 minutes the other day. He put me through to his "supervisor" to set up the "amazing deal". I told him I really needed international minutes as I ship cocaïne from Colombia to the UK and need to be able to call them frequently. He soon got the idea and hung up 😂

Doingtheboxerbeat · 29/09/2021 00:09

I have these calls all the time but I had no idea they were scams 😲. What happens, are they phishing?

notthemum · 29/09/2021 00:58

@Gymohithoughtusaidgin.
😀😃😄😅🤣😂😂.
Bloody Brilliant. I will try and remember that.
Also your username is fab

Saladd0dger · 29/09/2021 01:17

I never knew they were scams either, had many over the years.

Sciurus83 · 29/09/2021 07:37

Yeh I just said I'm not with carphone warehouse and am happy where I am and a polite thank you have a nice day bye, over in 30 secs. Can't be bothered with any longer. She said thanks bye and that was that.

So English people can't have accents? Or people with accents can't be English? Bit racist of you!

GLXi · 29/09/2021 08:03

@KrisAkabusi

Apologies, I wasn't meant to be racist Smile. What I mean is that some people give themselves an English name when it OBVIOUSLY isn't. E.g. an Indian calling himself 'Michael Smith'.

I answer, as soon as they say carphone warehouse I lay down the phone and just let them talk to thin air for a while to waste their time. Then block the number. Rinse and repeat, get far fewer of them now.

Fairyliz · 29/09/2021 11:37

I’m retired so I have more time than most of MN.
I have endless fun with these calls seeing how many outlandish questions I can ask before they twig I’m messing about.
They do use some bad language before they put down the phone down. Grin

GLXi · 29/09/2021 15:41

@AliceWo

That's exactly what I do. I block the number (can't with a private number) and get fewer calls than that. But it still annoys the hell out of me how these twits have no life other than robbing other peoples money!

GLXi · 29/09/2021 15:49

@Doingtheboxerbeat

They just ask for your bank details to take out the amount of money for the 'offer'.

@Gymohithoughtyousaidgin 🤣🤣👍

I’ve had loads of these and never knew it was a scam I just always say No Thanks and hang up.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 29/09/2021 18:45

@GLXi thanks.
I literally had no idea. They always call when I'm in the middle of my contract so, I would never pay for a new phone for no good reason, but if they had called me when I gave my phone a toilet bath - with no insurance 😬 - then they could have scammed me 😩😲.

GLXi · 29/09/2021 19:51

@Doingtheboxerbeat No problem :) This is why I post these kinds of information. To spread awareness, preventing innocent people being scammed by these scummy pricks Wink.
