Need help suspect son in wrong school

Has I said his last school was a mainstream school & it came as a shock when we were told that the school we’d chosen couldn’t take him because they couldn’t take someone at ‘primary level’ we’d never been told/led to believe at any time he’d be going to a specialist school. I feel there is something wrong with his EHCP or whatever paperwork they passed on for him to be here & for no one in our own town to be able to provide provision for him. But alarm bells started ringing today when the teacher told him the answer was wrong, why would she lie? Do they get money for him? They told us they would help us & if he was in the wrong school they’d know. But all he is doing is painting everyday, he says the work is too easy & I know he’s capable of so much more. He now feels the teachers are singling him out & when they asked a question in class today 3 children held there hands up -DS & 2 others & the other 2 children gave there answers & DS was ignored.

Sorry for long post but don’t know where to turn or how to sort this out. I feel so let down but also like I’ve let my son down Sad

Can you try to explain this again? I can't understand how you know nothing of the school your son is attending, Google is your friend here and should have been looked at before accepting the place if you couldn't visit in person.

You'd probably be better off getting this moved to SN children or SN education.

My questions though would be:

What is it that makes the mainstream say they can't cope with your DS?
What does his EHCP say in regards to schools? Are there any other schools you feel would suit him better?

Typically LAs are very reluctant to place children in special schools because it's way more expensive.

I don't understand what you mean about getting the question wrong, sorry.

I think only half the post has appeared here - whole post is: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4361417-Need-help-suspect-son-is-in-wrong-school

Your post isn’t making a great deal of help. Normally mainstream is the normal route taken unless parents ask for specialist to be considered.

If you are concerned the setting isn’t right for him then I would look at calling an emergency ehcp review
