To ask for some help with Hotmail because they literally have no help available online arghhh

My Hotmail account has been blocked. I don't know why. I have filled in the form to recover it (you provide name, postcode, security answer etc) and they say they will review it within 24 hours. However I'm getting an almost instant response saying that the information I have provided isn't sufficient and I need to fill the form in again with more detail. I've literally filled in every single bit of the form and it's still saying it's insufficient 😭 any ideas what to do next and has it happened to anyone else? I need to get back in to read some order emails of things I've bought!

I've googled and there doesn't seem to be any customer service...

It's an Outlook service, isn't it? There's a helpline for that.

OP, sorry this has happened but this is a known issue with Hotmail for a long time now. Basically what's happened is that 2002 called and wanted its email address back.

When you set up your new Gmail account be sure to enable two factor authentication and choose a genuinely secure password that you don't use for anything else.

Oh god l wish l could help I'm having the same issue...l don't know what answer l put in Hotmail 20 years ago about my best friend name when l set it up..I'm just going round in circles 🤣

I do have a Gmail account and have been using it for years, every time I set up a new account on a website or something I do use that one. But things I've been using for years like PayPal are still all on the old hotmail account and I need them! I'm so gutted.

Log into your accounts and change them where possible because you may well have lost access to your Hotmail one

Just been through the same thing with my mum’s hotmail account. No way to get it back. Also failed the initial recovery process and couldn’t be bothered with filling in forms etc as I wasn’t convinced it would work. Mum also has a gmail account and fortunately her devices like iPad etc were linked to that one. Probably because I set them up for her. I then spent some time changing email addresses on various accounts but fortunately she doesn’t do much online so there weren’t loads to do. I was a bit cross as I’d been telling her to stop using the Hotmail one for years.

I've just gone and done that with PayPal, amazon etc. The only thing I'm worried about is I'm awful at remembering passwords for things and if I ever need to reset a password now it'll go to my Hotmail! For example Facebook is tied to the Hotmail account. I don't know the Facebook password (been logged in on my phone for years) I can't reset it because I can't check the email :( I do wish id stopped using it years ago. I only checked it every few days anyway. Urgh.

Have you tried adding a new email to your Facebook account?

I know it’s a major, major pain. With some sites like Facebook maybe you can change your email address through a code to your phone? They may have other options. I hope you get it sorted. For my mum, I decided it was less stressful to just assume we’d never get the hotmail account back..

Yes, it let me add a new email address but then I had to put my Facebook password in to verify it 🙈 I will try and add my phone number but I've never wanted Facebook to have it.

I locked my hotmail account and have never been able to get it back, I tried numerous things. It's just gone.
