To ask what little girls wear to birthday parties these days?

DD 4yrs has just been invited to her first primary school birthday party, am wondering do little girls still wear full on party dresses/shoes to these things or is it more casual?
Don’t want to get it wrong by dressing her too smart/too casual and her to feel self conscious either way (or give the school mums clique gang something to judge me on!)
Any tips around this welcome! Thanks!

Depends where it is. soft play or trampling Park then dd will wear nice shorts /leggings and a top but if it's at a hall then she would definitely want her sparkly party dress and shoes! Could you take a spare, slightly more causal outfit for 'if she gets hot' if you are worried about missing the mark a bit.

I have 7 and 6 year old girls and it depends on the party, soft play it would be leggings and a top but all the sparkles. If it’s a disco style party it’s full on oscars with dresses and as many sequins as they can fit on, usually with a pair of converse so they can still run around

A full range of dress codes at our last one - whatever she wants to wear, I’d say. In the past that’s been nice leggings/tops, but was full on party dress for the last one.

Depends on venue. In a hall etc then usually a party dress or fancy dress. Soft play etc mostly leggings & top though DS had a soft play party a few weeks back & some came in dress - a fair few slide burns happened!
When we did a forest school party we stipulated appropriate clothing!

Mine wore a normal Saturday outfit to the last one, skirt, top and leggings. There were a couple of girls in slightly flouncier dresses but nothing that I would think of as a proper party frock.

Agree it depends on the type of party but I don't think it really matters too much at this age as long as they're comfy. I remember once at a disco type party DD was the only girl in leggings & tshirt & everyone else was in a dress (she hated dresses), but I think I was probably the only person that noticed!

Dresses....my daughter been to a few...only one little girl wore leggings at all the parties...all the rest in dresses... although if softplay leggings best item to wear

Whatever she wants is generally my answer because children turn up in all sorts of combinations.

My eldest liked dressing up to the nines, my youngest didn't. I'd always pop a spare outfit in the car that normally consisted of leggings and party suitable top just in case that would be a halfway between proper smart and play freely clothes. Always handy for children who attract mess!

Leggings and t shirt underneath, sparkly princess dress on top (if she wants).

My oldest had a church hall party and girls wore dresses. If its a restaurant party then dresses but if its practical like soft play it's what ever you feel comfortable sending your child on
