I had gynae surgery 5 days ago and did well in recovery for the first few days and got myself immediately back to work following the surgery. The weekend, however, I went really downhill and was weak, suffering from severe nausea, lack of appetite and spent from Friday night in bed until yesterday when I managed to get up, have a bath and make a bit of tea.
My employer is really flexible with working from home, which is great, although the default is to be in the office. My boss is great with this and I have a really good relationship with him.
We don't work Monday but boss knew I was in for surgery as i've been in the office since my op. I spoke to him yesterday (both our day off) and told him I had been really ill over the weekend and we'd agreed if I was the same today I should work from home. I'm actually more or less fine today but on a massive go-slow and tired from lack of sleep.
I want to ask my boss if I can work from home for the morning while I get some energy back and go in this afternoon. There's an important management meeting I want to be in for this afternoon. As I said, my boss is great but I don't want to come across as a wet lettuce or to be seen as taking the piss with the flexi-system or being in for just half a day. I don't know, a lack of sleep and energy might mean i'm way overthinking this!
