I’m on my own and suffer a moderate reaction to wasp/hornet stings I’ve got one in my open plan house high up in the ceiling about 25 foot up?

Open the windows then turn off the lights and shut the doors. If you can get a torch the other side of the window that will help entice it outside, they are attracted to light at night we (unfortunately) found. Sounds like you will be living upstairs for the rest of the evening but that should shift it out of your house at least. You can test if it's gone by turning a light back on inside later.

Thank you my downstairs is all open plan so can’t shut doors very easily I think I might have killed it although now I can’t find it but it’s not flying around when I turn the lights on. It briefly came down from the ceiling and I sprayed it with mould remover lethal stuff it nearly killed me so hopefully its killed it.

That's the other way 😂 I've never been brave enough to get near to one to spray it but saying that they seem a lot more reasonable than the angry little waspy bastards!

The only problem is that I can’t find the bodies (there were two at one stage) they are definitely not flying around when lights are on they are so loud I couldn’t miss them. Not sure how they got in but our house has high beams and I wonder if they were planning on spending the winter in them and I lite the woodburner tonight and the warmth woke them up a bit!
