Empty houses.

I live beside an estate of social housing.
The house nearest to me has been empty since march.
When walking my dog spoke to one of the neighbours
and this house came up in conversation.
She told me that in the next street there are another 2 empty houses.
Yet on FB people are crying out for homes.
Surely the local authority should relet these houses asap.
That's 3 houses near me how many others are empty.
I feel so sorry for families who want/need a home.

There’s probably a huge backlog of repairs the housing have to get through and are prioritising the ones that people live in before sorting the empty ones out.

They do try and re-let them ASAP otherwise they’re losing money. As Hertsgirl says, probably a repair issue. However I do live in a beautiful but remote area and people are not keen to move out here when we have rare empty houses.
