TikTok cleaning videos, they should be banned

Not general cleaning, I'm talking about this kind of thing

vm.tiktok.com/ZMRtQ9J2f/

Mixing 5 or 6 different coloured liquid beaches in the toilet, adding floor cleaner, disinfectant, wash powder, bleach powder, washing up liquid, fablosa spray, zoflora etc.

A woman died in August by mixing just two cleaning products which caused her to have a fatal asthma attack, and she wasn't filming silly videos just cleaning her bathroom.

TikTok is full of it, so many accounts doing the same thing and you can hear small children in the background of some of these videos.

AIBU?

Yanbu. I saw one the other day where someone was cleaning the inside of her washing machine. She must have used about 6 products and it didn't look dirty at the beginning.

Mind you I'm a slattern who would rather do almost anything over housework so I'm not best placed to answer Grin

TikTokNutcases · 26/09/2021 17:47

She used 100 different cleaning products in the toilet for that video, 100! Sad

Why is this entertainment?

So bad for the environment
MrsRobbieHart · 26/09/2021 17:48

Totally agree with you OP. People haven’t a clue what they are mixing.

kakeya97 · 26/09/2021 17:49

Report if you see it. They may not get deleted but may have a banner underneath saying dangerous activity (not sure on actual term used).

But I do agree, I love cleaning myself but mixing chemicals is a massive no.

Over use of chemicals mixing or not isn't needed either. I don't even use bleach much anymore unless someone's been sick of the toilet. I used to be ott with bleach (damp flat) and it never affected me, now I used it after not using for a while it really catches my throat.

It's the Mrs hinch craze that started it and she has mixed stuff too.

I am officially bored and sick or cleaning channels.

Jaysmith71 · 26/09/2021 17:49

Ah

Tought you meant something like this:

roopy770 · 26/09/2021 17:51

I’d say YABU but only because there are much worse things on TT that should be banned before that. I can’t link to the extreme examples that have resulted in losses of lives or permanent disfigurements, but even stupid shit like this:

secular39 · 26/09/2021 17:52

It's satisfying to watch but our planet is doomed if all that break ends up in the drain!

SylvanasWindrunner · 26/09/2021 17:54

It's bonkers. She'll end up making chlorine gas or something and killing herself (or someone who tries to copy).

Thebookswereherfriends · 26/09/2021 17:55

That video looked like she was just chucking random crap in her clean toilet! The squirty stuff looked like different paint! Why!! Her toilet want even dirty enough to need more than a simple bit of toilet cleaner. That was seriously weird and anyone who watched that and thought it was a good idea is completely bonkers.

SylvanasWindrunner · 26/09/2021 17:55

Also what the hell happened in her toilet to need that many chemicals ...

Wazzzzzzzup · 26/09/2021 17:55

Natural selection innit

Pointlessuser · 26/09/2021 17:56

I have an ASMR sponge channel on YouTube that sort of does this thing but in a container so that it can be recycled and reused for cleaning. This video does seem particularly wasteful I do agree with you, but many products can be mixed, you just have to be very careful what you mix and read the labels carefully.

Sparklfairy · 26/09/2021 17:56

I accidentally mixed viakal gel and bleach once and that was bad enough Confused

TikTokNutcases · 26/09/2021 17:58

The pouring water on babies trend was horrid. I don't know what goes on in some people's minds.

I use TikTok for the food and beauty accounts but just lately my entire FYP is full of cleaning madness like this. I have been reporting them, it's a death waiting to happen.

The pouring water on babies trend was horrid.

Sounds horrific and abusive.

TikTokNutcases · 26/09/2021 18:00

I'm 8 months pregnant so totally understand the craving for bubbles and nice smells but Jesus Christ all of that bleach and toilet cleaner.

I get sufficient satisfaction from soaping up my sink with fairy liquid Blush

Do these people not realise that the only thing they’re doing is making money for the product manufacturers.

Djifunrsn · 26/09/2021 18:03

I think they should probably have a dangerous content warning.

SweetPetrichor · 26/09/2021 18:08

I think it’s natural selection at work!

Kapsauss · 26/09/2021 18:12

I agree with this.

During lockdown - frazzled brain, home schooling, wfh - I cleaned the toilet as you do. I put bleach in. But then something came up, I think kids asked me something - went back to it. Forgot the bleach.."Where was I?" Kind of moment. Added Harpic! That caused a chemical reaction that the fumes nearly knocked me out, I couldn't breathe, I kept coughing for hours and hours, kept taking short breaths. It was horrendous. Just the though of it makes me smell the fumes and it makes me sick!
These videos are lethal.

And harming aquatic life
MrsRobbieHart · 26/09/2021 18:25

Yes that too. The thought of all that shit going straight down the loo into the water system. Angry
