Tarot cards & Psychics

I just read an interesting thread about curses and feeding on from that I’ve been wondering recently about tarot cards and the like…

Do you think it’s a load of woo? Or do you believe?

I don't think there's anything supernatural about tarots/psychics. Possibly they can help you think positively/look at things in a different way by putting helpful suggestions in your mind. Unfortunately there a a lot of quacks out there who are out to make a quick buck by preying on the vulnerable.

I don't really believe. It's just not logical. But if there's a psychic reading - I'm willing to be proven wrong!

I believe, but I don't believe it's "magic" or "psychic". I do not consider myself a fortune-teller in any way, shape, or form. I'm a logical, rational, agnostic cynic - and yet I've found them to be remarkably accurate to the point where they will defy the statistics - and people's doubts and expectations - regularly.

love tarot! do it for yourself rather than pay someone. For self inquiry it is a useful tool. Not necessarily for "seeing the future" but for seeing a situation as it is. Loads of great lessons on youtube.

I 'brevet for want of a better word. Mindfulness, spirituality and yoga, accessing a higher consciousness etc etc. We are not limited to what can be scientifically proven.

It's a load of nonsense. How could a set of cards tell you the future any more than tea leaves. Psychics are the biggest load of charlatans going.

Not all of them, no. I have read for the most vehement sceptics - in situations where they weren't going for a reading, but I'd brought my cards and curiosity got the better of them. For example, in a pub, with dyed-in-the-wool Yorkshire men. They never asked me a question - they just asked me to do a blind reading (i.e. no info whatsoever). Many of them left the readings subdued, thoughtful.

I'm very much of this kind of read, too, inkhopper. I think tarot is most useful as a mirror - and the best question to ask it, imo, is the most simple question too:

"Tell me what I most need to know."

If you don't believe in tarot, this still works, because it works along psychological principles. Your unconscious throws something out on to the card that the conscious you then sees, as if for the first time. As a result, you see something reflected about yourself that can be incredibly insightful and useful.
