Had a routine bowel scan and have received a letter to make an appointment to speak with a consultant over the phone. Thinking the worse. Is very bad news given over the phone or would I be called in to be told face to face?

Oh gosh OP I don't know. Of course it could be the worst; it could also be that they've found something else that needs to be discussed/further investigated. But here Flowers I didn't want to read and run. Try and stay calm and be really kind to yourself (I know much easier said than done, I had to do the breast referral last year and it is just an awful, awful process).

Please don't panic. It could be that the Consultant has requested to speak to you however due to finding something like a polyp or inflammation rather than something more sinister.

Sending a handhold though.
