Tell me I don't HAVE to do all the things I booked my day off for?

I have a long to do list. I booked an annual leave day for today and will just about have time to fit it all in before I collect the kids from school.

Just returned from the breakfast club drop off and all I want to do is crawl into bed.

I had hoped the lack of work and DC would motivate me. TELL me I can squeeze in a nap or 2 hours with a book Grin

The list can wait
Self care is more important
Be kind to yourself

Definitely do some relaxing. It's a waste of leave not to IMHO.
I'd probably write a little to do list and do some of it with some good music on and then crawl back in to bed with a cuppa and good book. Enjoy.

Surely that was top of your list!

An empty house is a gift from the gods, grab it.

Review your list ruthlessly.Flowers

Bed, brew and book is always top of the list whenever dh takes the kids out for a few hours, so I do get the chance every now and again to just rest.

I suppose it's more that I specifically took today to do x y and z.

Fuck it. Kettles on, book is next to the bed.

Oh yes. Maybe 10 minutes on jobs, 30 mins with book and tea? Repeat as needed through the day.

Billybagpuss · 24/09/2021 08:30

What’s top of the list? (After B,B and B of course)

alloutofcareunits · 24/09/2021 08:33

Same here, I'm now back in bed with my book and a cup of coffee. Jobs can wait..... Smile

alloutofcareunits · 24/09/2021 08:33

I've hung out the washing so rewarded myself with going to read for an hour

SlidDownTheElephantsTrunk · 24/09/2021 08:35

Oh I only book AL so I can spend the day in bed !

Dd is having all her friends round tomorrow for a day of fun and crafts and a movie etc.

I need to pick up food and drinks, additional craft supplies, run the vacuum round, buy and deliver a birthday present to my dear friends (bday yesterday!), flu jab (booked, so if nothing else I need to make that appt), return the library books (already a week late), dig out some camping bits from the loft I've promised to a friend (who is calling for them before the flu jab).

Burgh.

BBB definitely first! Friday is DH school run day, and until the builders are actually in the house at 8am (currently still working outside) I stay in bed with tea.

Prioritise what you HAVE to do, ditch the rest.

I must get orchestra music out for next week today (as it’s in DHs office and I can only get in during working hours).

I also must do some Governor meeting prep or I’ll have to spend all weekend on it.

And I must make up spare bed for DS friend sleepover this eve.

That already feels like a lot!

Billybagpuss · 24/09/2021 08:43

Oh time limits, I hate time limits.

To be honest, most of that you can do on one trip out. If you’re zoomy you can do it in just over an hour, new top of list, get home as quick as possible so you have 2 clear hours to yourself before school pick up.

Delphigirl · 24/09/2021 08:48

Friend you can do online. Rest you can do before lunch snd spend the afternoon in bed!
