Worried about swab

So sexual health clinic in my area aren't doing physical appointments at the moment and I'm worried I have an STD so they've sent out a test kit

Problem is the swab is discoloured (looks brownish). Am I right this isn't safe to use?

Other thing is I'm constantly spotting, is that gonna affect the test?

Sorry for the second post but my first didn't get a single response and know I should call the clinic but don't want to sound like an idiot if the swab is meant to be yellowish brown

Was the swab in a sales packet? Definitely call the clinic.
