What is in Sainsbury onion rings, that is the question I’m asking…..

I had covid last year (March 2020) with 9months of anosmia.

When my sense of taste and smell came back at Christmas it was great except

  1. Onions smell and taste like the most rancid smelling kebab or flesh you can imagine - even driving down a sea front in the summer made me want to pike because of the burger vans. I used to love onion - adored it. I sadly can’t eat most Indian foods now.
  1. Garlic stinks but I’m ok with it we’ll cooked out .
  1. Coffee stinks but still tastes ok

Given the above ……:

Why do Sainsbury onion rings taste nice.

I’ve tried all sorts of onions - red, spring, cooked, raw, hidden - it’s so bad even things like fried chicken and most crisps are vile because of the onion powder

Up a soup - forget it

Virtually all sauces from a jar - taste of rancid onion

But I can eat Sainsbury onion rings and they smell nice

Have you seen the calorie count on them they definitely don’t have much onion in!

idontlikealdi · 22/09/2021 18:43

No onion!

Kanaloa · 22/09/2021 18:45

They’re more ring than onion.

Amdramfan · 22/09/2021 18:46

I thought you meant the crisp type and was going to tell you that the m and s ones are absolutely devine and bonus for me as im losing weight they are relatively low cal. Anyway try them.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 22/09/2021 18:52

In much the same way as the Bacon Crispies are vegan and kosher.

baggingareaunattended · 22/09/2021 20:26

Crisps or actual onion rings?

Rabblesthecat · 22/09/2021 20:49

The frozen breaded onion rings

Not the crisps
