My eldest is 6.5 and just started in Y2. He is a fairly clingy child and there's still often a few tears in the mornings when I drop him off at school. At the weekend he had a playdate and he insisted that i stay with him. He's been invited to a birthday party next month and it looks like some activity game which I know he would enjoy but parents don't go in with them, they wait in the cafe or outside etc. I don't want to push him to be left (he wouldn't allow that anyway), but I also don't want him to miss out on stuff he enjoys.
I'm not sure how to RSVP either because they obviously need to know numbers in advance! I don't know what to do.
Anyone else have a child like this and how old were they when did they were happy in strange places without you?
